  1. Hello Crusaders, sorry for the silent treatment, i have been require on other project as well during the last couple of weeks.
    I did managed to do an audio pass on PvE environment. So now since content update 2, PvE environment have proper reverb, room tones, and emitters. I also fixed a bunch of bug with the Warriors both range and melee.

    At the moment i'm updating a bunch of orks asset that were still using sounds from the SpaceMarine faction. Also we now have new mecanics to address unique weapon that require a special audio treatment. Basically before that we had a very strong global system for range weapon, but could not handle exception, so now we can! First to come will be the Ace Dakkad Deffgun, next i'll do try to do a pass on the chaos widowmaker bolter. We will try to address all those unique weapon, as fast as possible

    Regarding not hearing incoming enemies or vehicles, we spend lost of time duing the last year Ian and I tweaking our volume attenuation curves, but i think the audio culling introduces this summer before launch totally messsed up our curves. Prog are aware of it, but obviously, are quite busy. None the less we will try to address those issue asap.

  2. The Warlord have some new VO commands that could help organising the troops on the battlefield. Not sure when the Warlord is suppose to come in though
    I'll send your suggestions regarding training videos to the game designers

    Since you are now the guy to turn to with suggestions, i would like to repeat a few suggestions i made to Ian while he was still on the project about the sounds for certain psychic powers:

    Flickering Fire: Currently the deamon voice that plays each time you fire it off is good. The problem is that the design of the spell itself is as such that you fire it off like a machine-gun most of the time, which then sounds really weird and goofy when the deamon voice sounds like you put it on fast-forward (starting up each time you spam the mouse key). Perhaps making the voice of the actual deamon only play each second or third cast, and the "in-between" casts you add in some sort of hissing or babbling. That way it would sound allot better, because the voice would utter a word on the first cast, then the following two would he hissing/giggling/babbling, and then the third cast would be a word again, making it sound allot better overall and would have a smoother flow imo.

    Flesh Circle (Nurgle heal): I really feel like this psychic power could benefit from using the sound of flies that you are using for the Stream of Corruption psychic power (or some similar fly droning sounds). The domain of Nurgle is filled with billions of deamonflies constantly droning in a mind numbing cacophony, so it would only be fitting (as it is with the Stream of Corruption) to hear these flies in the background of the psychic power while channeled. Would add allot to the "feel" of the power imo, making it sound as vile as the Stream of Corruption. I would perhaps suggest toying with making the voice that plays in the background of the spell a bit more deep, but thats something for you to test and see if it would sound better to you personally, i feel that it might (but at the same time i still like the current voices too, i just think they could potentially be even better when they become deeper).

    Stream of Corruption: Currently this is the only psychic power that doesent have any voices playing in the background. All the heals have their own unique voices, Lash of Slaanesh has Deamonettes sighing in the background, Warp Instability and Flickering Fire has deamons chanting as well. Only the Stream of Corruption doesent, which kinda makes it feel "inferior" so to speak when it comes to the level of sound awesomeness it could have. Could you please consider adding some deamonic voices in the background of the Stream of Corruption spell to compliment it, adding to the sound of flies it already has? Nurlge Deamons are often known to laugh and chortle as they turn their foes ill, so something along deamonic laughter and babble would be fitting.

    Lash of Slaanesh: This ones almost perfect from the audio side of things. Only thing that could potentially be added is the sound of an actual lash as you fire it off, since its well, a lash of energy. Would be fitting a sound in relation to the power imo, and would be cool to hear the sound of lashes as you are actually lashing someone with raw Warp energy.

  4. Yes i remember seeying those. And yes we knew the Flickering Fire was broken.
    Basically what happenned is that Ian made a new version super cool and just as we were implementing it, ...the game mechanic was changed and it was not working with our audio asset anymore.
    Will try to fix that one first, but will aslo try to address your comments regarding the other chaos powers

    so i did a pass on the choas psychic powers:

    Flickering Fire, now works as intended, the rapid fire rate make it difficult audiowise to make it sound as powerfull as the other powers. Back from Christmass vacation i'll try to have a chat with the game designers about this, maybe we can slow down the firing rate. At least it doesn't sound broken anymore

    Nurgle Heal, added some flies sound layer as suggested, works fine

    Stream of Corruption, that one actually do have some Vocal component but only when you have a target. When in idle mode it is more quiet, but it make the sound of the power active even more bad ass, so I decided to leave it like this.

    Lash of Slaanesh, I was afraid it would sound "corny" with actual lash sfx, but i think it actually sounds good. :) Let me know what you guys think of it.

    I also tweak the different impacts or effects applied on target, now seems there is a bug with the different RTPC link to psychic powers and ailment. That one will require some prog support so tbc, but still an improvement in general regarding chaos psychic powers

    Now those changes are submited but not on live yet, you will have to wait on the next content update in January, so stay tuned, and thanks for the feedback.

    It does? Im honestly not hearing any voices, just tested it for 5-10 minutes on the Garrison. I guess if i focus hard enough i can hear a few sped up whispers amongst the sounds of what sounds like "churning" that are strangely high pitched, similar problem the Foul Regeneration power had before (the chirping Ian was trying to hunt down). I dont know if its asking much, but can you perhaps try lowering the speed at which these voices in the background of the Stream of Corruption play, and maybe even make them a bit deeper? I think this would actually make them sound like actual voices rather then how they sound now.

    Just comparing it to all of the other voices attributed to other powers (which all sound sweet), those voices are clear and understandable (as far as deamonic gibberish can be clear and understandable :D), while what i assume to be voices in the background of the Stream of Corruption sound too fast and high pitched. For example the voices you added to the Flesh Circle (Nurgle heal) are the best and most understandable ones i feel. The most fitting to boot, since such a slow voice fits with Nurgle well. A similarly slow-like voice would be nice to see for the Stream of Corruption as well imo, since they are both related to the same Chaos God, so their "style" should logically be similar.

    If it isnt too much of a bother, this fix would be very nice to see (or well, hear).

    Can you clarify this part a bit more? I dont understand to what audio you are referring to.

    I would like to say the voices and sounds are done realy well for each God, but I did want to point out for the widowmaker will you guys be making the ammo sceam as its going by players or will just the gun make the screaming noise?

    I was also going to ask will we see any kind of new spells non god oriented spells? What I mean is like able to cast bolts or bolt barrage of any sort?

    Mathieu is the dev in charge of audio design, so i doubt its an area in which he can give you a sure answer to that question.

    Its a good question to ask @BrentEllison or @Maspalio though.
