What I want for voice chat is less on the audio side and more on the programming side. I want to be able to communicate with only my squad via voice chat, or if I'm a squad leader, I'd like to converse with just other squad leaders at times. When we get to 50 vs 50 I'd like to see five 10 man groups led by a warlord who talks to the 5 squad leaders, who can respond to just him, relay orders to their respective squads, and not cause traffic over the broadcast. Right now what we have is a steamchat group with 16 players that can all talk at the same time. It's bad if everyone talks at the same time, it would be much worse if 50 players talked at the same time. The problem I see with augmented voice chat is, A) Not every faction/Subfaction talks with the same modifier. (This could get complicated fairly quickly) B) Some subfactions don't even talk, Yes I'm looking at you Eldar! C) Sometimes it's hard to understand people with strong accents from other countries, adding a modifier would just make it more difficult. D) I think it would get old fairly fast, I think for recording purposes and role playing purposes a modified voice would be ideal but when it comes down to it, I feel like it would just be in the way. Like I said earlier, more of a programming issue and not a sound issue, however adding a modifier to 50 different people from 5+ different subfactions would muddy up the airwaves so to speak. I'd rather focus on the task at hand rather than strain to hear some people or understand them.
I recently noticed you guys tweaked the Meltagun's audio, kinda torwards the video clip I made. Cheers!
The new VO for all currently playable sub-factions are now in the dev build. No idea when this will be rolling out, but I suspect soon. This is very first pass. There is still a great deal to do with the voice system, but we are getting there. At least now the lines written for the specific sub-factions will play accordingly, and you can hear the new voices. Some audio mechanics, like breathing and burning, might not be aligned correctly as they were set for the Ash placeholders so I will be tuning these in the weeks to come. As usual, if you find any audio bugs, please file an appropriate bug report via the usual channels. Enjoy!
I think they said so last stream. Even going as far as to say that it will be on Founder's server this week. Obviously, this was probably an estimation.
I certainly hope so! Yes! At this point in time, I cannot say. Could you give me a brief synopsis of what it is you want?
