They are an interesting chapter. But I cannot help but root for my Salamanders. And there might not be much to protect in civilians. But we can protect our battle brothers just as well.
Cowardice, outright heresy, arrogance, incompetence, betrayal, pettiness and being a pet chapter of the Mechanicus. Guess they can join my list of "loyalist" chapters that need to be purged for heresy. (Blood Angel mutants + successors and Dark Angel traitors + successor included)
Given that Medusa is in the same Segmentum as Arkhona and the Iron Hands had a recent supplement (heretical or otherwise) chances are they will be in the vote.
The sad truth is that was probably the intention of the authors. Many new or unfamiliar players are looking at this and thinking the new lore is fantastically written, unaware of what was destroyed in order to bring this about, while some older ones are now looking at the Iron Hands as if they are as bad as the traitor legions. We can only hope this damn book is hurled into the bleakest, blackest abyss, as far from the canon as possible and completely forgotten in the upcoming codex.
It's too early to tell, but people are hoping it's going to disappear and never be mentioned again. The recent Codex: Eldar Craftworlds, for all its failings, did the right thing and ignored everything connected to Codex: Iyanden save for Valedor. Atop of that Games Workshop itself pretty much just came out and said to ignore that supplement. We can only hope for the same again here. Still, this should probably get back on topic and focus less upon that abominable codex and more about why some feel the Iron Hands should be involved in this game.
