I just spent 20 minutes trying to get into a decent match - i.e. one that isn't Forge District Zetek, Assault Station Magon, or a Fortress map. Some people will disagree, but it's irrelevant - I hate these maps; I find them interminably boring - I will not play them. I don't mind having to que longer for a map I like, but it's not like I can do anything else in the meantime - I have to micro-manage - zooming in and out on that awful map interface clicking join/leave for 20 minutes with no guarantee of success. I've never played an online game where you couldn't choose what map you were going to play - what game mode, essentially! This is absurd; it's laughable - just one more reason I can never recommend this game to a friend even though it's got under my skin. It should be a fundamental part of the game to have check boxes for the maps you want to que for. Why does this need to be said? Bonus: You devs can then see data on which maps we DESPISE and act accordingly when it comes time to make new ones.
Well, I mean, how the game works is territory bases, and in theory we're fighting over certain places at a time to defend our land, or attack theirs. So, choosing a specific filter for a specific map just doesn't make sense. Also, we don't have enough people playing to be picky, tbh.
If we let players choose the maps they que for, the map rotation would turn into this : Olipsis, Pegasus, Olipsis, Olipsis, Olipsis,Pegasus ,Olipsis,Olipsis,Pegasus,Pegasus , Pegasus, Olipsis, Pegasus.
F2P players cannot queue for specific battles. Also they're alluding to new functionality on the World Map "eventually" and in one of the streams I think this question was put to Noah and he was like "Yeah that's a good idea." Might have written it down. It's so weird to me how different players are about different game modes. My crew generally hates Supremacy, and vastly prefers HTL or Fortresses.
How funny, I'd play nothing but Maggon/Zedek, with maybe a bit of Pegasus for flavour. Control maps are just too stressful for me nowadays.
hallelujah brother! I dont even que for Fortresses and i immediately leave every Zedek and Maggon when I see we're defending. They're just painful and not fun to play. Defending in general isn't fun and many maps can be over with the opening 5 minutes of a match when attackers steam roll objectives early on. At that point there's 17 minutes on the clock and victory for defenders is a mathematical improbability if not impossibility. Extremely lame.
There's not always one available - I just had a bad 20 minutes where the only maps being played were fortress-style maps - there was a brief ray of hope when a map I liked started filling up, but upon joining the queue I found it was off-continent! Very frustrating experience.
