  1. It's not quite an arrow but I took a dagger to the back of the knee.

  2. For anyone who dont know what phosphex is, this is why you should stay away from engaging the carnosour in melee. even if a grenade is smaller

Phosphex Bombs are deadly weapons used during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. These bombs contain phosphex, a rare corrosive toxin and incendiary compound. It expands on contact with the air into a seething, liquid mist which burns with an eerie white-green flame that is attracted to movement. This flame ignites metal and eats into living tissue, and more ominously can not be extinguished by any means short of exposure to a vacuum. But as effective as this horrific weapon is, its use is not widespread as it has a tainting effect on planets beyond even radiation or nuclear weapons.

Hey guys, just wanted to ask for your opinion on a matter of named weapons. I was doing a lot of thinking about this topic and although it might sound not really important, I was still interested in hearing your side on this. As some of you know, when we did Jester's original "Original Chapter RP" if a player achieved some cool feat he would get to name his weapon, making it sort of a relic item that could get passed down the generations of the Chapter. In Matt's RP he has a system of his own with the chance of getting "named" items (I rly dig the loot chart!) and this is a cool and balanced way to give such rewards.

However then I approached the problem from my own personal side and please don't think I was angry or something even though it might sound like I'm butthurt :D Forums just have the way of not transferring emotions right :D When I did Jester's RP I also wanted to get to name my weapon so it becomes a cool combi-flamer at that time, however I never managed to and I was kinda bummed, not because others got it but because I didn't have it as well, if you know what I mean.

So what I'm saying is that in case some of you felt like that (guilty feels and all :D), I understand it and that's why I'm not sure if I'm going to follow the same pattern and do the rewards like that. Since we are really at the beginning of Emperor's Children crusade and despite the vaults of the legion holding many cool artifacts I guess, I would not hand over named weapons (not counting the latest Sergeant's sword since it's kinda a status symbol). Instead, I really like what for instance Grall did and decorated his own weapon.

If we end up staying loyalists I can tell you right now we'll form some kind of a chapter after the heresy ends and all of your weapons will eventually end up like relics. Of course, it's easier for a Devastator to hold on to his item than for instance an Assault Marine, but I'll try to keep it balanced. So don't expect getting a relic weapon, expect getting a chance to "master-craft" your own weapon and build its legacy like that with your own actions rather than just getting it for freebies.

What do you guys think about this? Do you find it cool or not?

I really like the idea, as it gives an out-of-character incentive to put even more effort into writing your character beyond "I hit the monster for 1d12 greataxe damage!".

Sounds good. I had plans that I hoped to do with my apothcaries bolter later on if we got the chance to combi them.

Well I'm really glad you like the idea!

I'll handle out the item rewards this time around. The idea is to give melee chance for power weapons or plasma sidearms, for Devastators I'll give out rank2 weapons such as "you'll see" :D And for you I'll go with similar choice and afterwards, you'll get the chance of combi-ing those two weapons into 1, probably for free. Something like that.

EDIT Why's that? Well, with my kinda wild planning, there'll be plenty of missions to go about if we are to follow the path of our Legion which means that I will at one point be in a big problem as to what to offer for rewards, not to mention the biggest problem for me is to write talents for ppl and keep them somewhat interesting.

Then again, Legio Astartes were really well-equipped item-wise, so it would be kinda stupid to bar you the chance of getting better gear than bolters and chainswords for any period of time, that's why I'm handling out those things somewhat quicker than I usually do. But like it was stated, this might turn out to be a fine way of spending more time with your particular weapon and creating its own legend.

I have a question. In the great crusade what types of Combis were around?

I know we know of the basic combi flamer, Combi plasma, and combi melta, But I also found proof of a Combi grenade launcher as well and even combi grav.

I took the wings of the beast because I wanted to turn my helmet into a dragon-helmet.....

See the helmet in bottom-left, see like the wing on top? Wanted to do it just like that, perhaps also for the 'cheeks' so it's more like the vertical center fin + these:

Call me cheesy, but I find unique armor and armor upgrades actually far more awesome and important than weapons. Because you know. The Machine Spirit of the armor and the legacy is better prevailed that way. A weapon can be handed down easily. An armor? Less much so. Look at the freaking custodes, they engrave their name in their suits!

I got totally inspired by the whole 'the armor and it's spirit matters' ever since Ultramarine Book #4, 'Feld der Toten' which I believe in english is something like 'Killing Fields' or so. + The Deathwatch PnP Rulebook also puts a nice emphasis on the armor.

So yeah totally agree with your stuff, cool beans.
