At the same time, they can develop the game for 5 years, if they make bad decisions, and do anything in the end the game will be a failure. Then we will be in a mmo and not in a mmorpg. They will quickly make large-scale tests to validate the reliability of the project. But don't dream, i've never seen a game launch without problem
Yeah I think the biggest thing they need to delay for if even remotely necessary is the network infrastructure, and player load balancing for launch. I think game glitches and graphic artifacts are completely acceptable to most by now at launch but there is still alot of publicity and customer rage over queue times to play or crashes. This IMO will be an interesting challenge for them since this is a relatively new tech AFAIK, maybe a staged launch would be best to slowly bear the load of players lol.
Yes, the most Angry rants on MMOs launch arent realy minor glitches or graphic problems. Its when the customers cant play what they paid for ( i know it will bit f2p, but some will buy the game ).
They should have F2P users wait a while at launch to give the servers time to get up to speed. That way people who actually paid money to play the game get to enjoy it before the noobpocalypse arrives. This also has the added benefit of those who paid for the service being able to get a leg up on all the freeloaders in terms of skills, experience, weaponry, and equipment.
1. Giving money to something makes noone any less a noob. 2. I hope your ilk is in the minority in this community, if the F2P Ork concept is to ever succeed we will need as less entitled people as we can. 3. Some games usually give a week early access to pre-purchasers, so your elitism will be sated to a point.
Not elitism, I dislike people who freeload a good game and then end up being more powerful than those who pre-ordered and spent money to help the developers. If it was a standard video game like a FPS I would have no problems but in an MMO where you need forces to be as well trained as possible to win the day, those with the money should definitely get into the fight first and come out with better gear in the beginning. Now I'm not saying that premium or people who paid money for the game should get overrated items or inaccessible items to free to play, just that we get the opportunity to receive those weapons first or quicker. Everyone will be a noob at this game. When people get a chance to play it, mistakes will be made everywhere as people get used to beta changes, access to the full world and enemy types/character classes. We all began as novices and earn our way to veteran status. I don't see a problem if the Orks arrive to the fight last, it might actually be an advantage because that means they will have less Tyranids surrounding their holdings and the other factions will already be blooding each other and too distracted to see another enemy horde approaching from the flanks. If the Orks can get leadership quickly, they could walk away with a very large holding of territory and catch every other faction off guard.
