Dont think i need to add much further than the others above did, you can kick and scream all you want but like i and they said microtransactions are in. They were confirmed from the start, the fact that you might possibly not wish it is another thing entirely.

And its funny that you compare it to LoL, because in part it will indeed be like that, selling cosmetics instead of those costumes you can get there.

    Guild Wars 2.
  2. How will cosmetics even work if we're stuck in Chapter Appearances?

That's an interesting question. CSM and orks obviously have no problems with it, since no two ork/CSM look the same. Eldar can also be rectified with gems, wind chimneys, fur cloaks and other decorative stuff.
Loyalist marines however might have problems in this regard. Perhaps imperium-themed decorations are the way to go? Also, chapter-themed cosmetics(different robe-styles for Dark Angels, wolf stuff for Space Wolfes, etc.). They definetly won't look as exotic as the other three factions, however.

Star Wars: The Old Republic actually made a lot of money (north of 130 million off it's cartel market) in the year it's converted F2P. That's not to say how it went F2P or how it handles that aspect...but...there's quite a few examples of MMOs that have gone F2P that have lived longer then a year.

Most MMOs I know that go F2P AFTER their launch that weren't originally intended to be F2P suffer horridly from restrictions that don't make sense and tend to strangle the overall promise of the game. SWTOR was boring and over quick before it went F2P...F2P and EA (the real culprit,) just sealed it's long term fate.

I think the whole f2p conversion idea is horrible since most mmos can't do it properly. A b2p conversion with cosmetics shop is more sensible. Secret World did this and it worked. The game was basically on life support at the time of the conversion but it bounced back quite well, in fact the first big content update (there were several smaller ones before) is due in May. Of course, they make a lot of profit from selling the content updates as Dlc but it kinda makes sense since Secret World's mission-chains are awfully work-intesive from the development's perspective, sine they require tons of voice-acting/scripting/writing/modelling/etc. Imo, it shows enough potential for becoming a top mmo with the constant polishing. The latest update, for example, alleviated a lot of problems with the end-game by adding a bunch of new abilities and dungeon-esque scenarios.
All in all, b2p is the Lord and we must embrace It's light.

Honestly, I wouldn't wear it even if i could, these look terrible to me.
  8. Yeah but if its going to be a shop that's actually fleshed out then you're going to run out of Armor Marks pretty damn fast.

@Bladerunner im a big fan of the helmets. Of course, i know there are many people that do not like it.
@ Tornadium, im not sure what you are trying to say. .. so the micro transaction will be based on an imaginary inventory? i think that if the shop will be a place to buy aesthetic things and such, it will have an unlimited amount of armors one can buy. Im also under the impression you will not need to buy armor, the purchase woud be purely aesthetic.
  10. They announced ages ago that the game is a pay once only businesses model.
