Learning From Other Mmo's Mistakes.

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by dwarfhunter, Apr 22, 2014.

  1. One of my favorite parts of ps1 was the need to transport power from the warpgate to the bases to keep the self repairing structure and spawning online. Personally I prefer the player needing to move the resources as ai convoys are far too easy to kill. If you provide a reward for the squad that delivers the resources to the base you will almost always have someone willing to make the run if you don't already have someone with spare resources in the base.

This is what it looks like you did to this conversation by writing your wall of text and not being informed or getting educated on the matter before hand. a few keypoints for you:

-This game is not an MMORPG, its a MMO with persistent PVP game play. (look that up)
-This game will not have any kind of jaw-dropping, in depth PVE adventure, they said that PVE will be procedural tyranid dungeons, thus not warranting a sub. (look up the word procedural)
    - This game will be closely related to PS2 but not the same. Massive online PVP games will always make money from microtrans, it would be impossible to get me to pay a sub for something that does not create new content in the form/shape that WoW does every 3-5 months.
    - This game has to have a sound business model for the company to provide you with a good online experience playing it.

Many people fear microtransactions because china has created a pay to win system in which generates a butt load of cash but if you were to take the time and read the forums you will see that the devs have been extremely transparent and have asked us anything and everything about how we would prefer the game to be. I'm not trying to be an asshole but just take the time and read a little before jumping into a convo brother.
  3. Just wanted to respond to you properly.

Firstly, don't be too worried about the buy the box, then never pay again (unless there's something you're buying) model. There are ways to do it well, and the developers have been really open about their thoughts. Indeed, the majority of people here agree that the devs' suggestion is probably the best way to do this. EC will definitely not be a P2W game. The development team have been pretty united about that.

I also had high hopes for GW2, and found myself slamming my head against the wall with the way their monetisation and gameplay went. Such a shame, when it could have been so much better.

Also, the designers do read quite a few of the threads and do respond from time to time. They may not read your post specifically, but they've heard the same concerns raised by others over the last few months, and they're aware of them and think they have an answer that'll work.
