Learn the damn time mechanic

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by MungFuSensei, Oct 20, 2016.

  1. Funny story, last night playing zedek as orks vs. chaos. I was sneaky capping A from chaos and hid in a corner. An assault came up to it, I thought he was going to stop the cap, moved to him, then he ran off and went up the stairs.

Then when it was almost capped, another guy came to the point, then ran off. I couldn't believe it. I ran to the point at the last minute because I could believe it and some guy jumped on me and downed me. I though I lost the cap, but then he decided to execute me instead of stop the cap. I solo capped A.

They had a bad case of noobs. I recommend 30ccs of tutorial and a daily does of Git Gud.

Problem is mostly beacause there is no any information given in-game which point was allredy capped and which not. When i jump on in mid of match i must ask by chat what was capped allredy.
When simple marks points on map and indicators by different colours would solve problem. Text over point saying "+5 minutes" would help solve that problem too. Specially that it could be so easy to implement...

The UI should actually reflect this mechanic instead of it being hidden.

It's possible to win with 2 caps but difficult, need to get those 2 fast and hold them most of the time. Getting 3 almost guarantees a win because then you can switch up where is attacked enough to hold 2 for enough time to win. Getting and holding 3 is a crushing quick victory.

for the past 5+ years the multiplayer shooter community has been brought up on the "Domination/Conquest" map objective system in other games.

Then along comes EC, which has a mode that SEEMS like its Domination/conquest... only, thats just on the surface. Underneath the UI and point/capture visuals, there is NOTHING stating that there are different mechanics (aside from the jerks yelling at the noobs who dont realize this).

This isnt the players fault. They are playing the map how they know how to play these seemingly domination/conquest style maps. The game simply does a horribly poor job at letting players know that its different, and how it should be played. And angry players yelling and insulting the noobs, doesnt help either.

This issue, is entirely on the devs. It would be like if suddenly the UK changed its road lanes around so they had to drive on the side the US drives on, but not tell anyone who drives these new rules.

they won't learn the time mechanic or they don't care.

what is worse is when someone who thinks he knows, what he is doing draws a lot of other unknowable people away from the only point the opposition needs to win, in order to recap a point the enemy already has.

when i questioned the guy about this, he said, he knew about the time cap, but his strategy was to "draw the opposition away, from the point they needed".

i refrained from mentioning that his strategy depended on the opposition, being as ignorant as he was, and unfortunately they weren't.

these are the same people now who have been playing the game for 4 weeks plus (probably longer i'd wager), the same people who continually wack their team mates in the back on melee battles then wonder, why JPA guy on the opposition can kill him and all three of his ganking partners, one after the other, the same RANGED guys who shoot through their team mates to get the kills, and or throwing granades into melee combat where team mates have the upper hand...

...the same players who have probably never even used the re-deploy button, and probably don't even understand why it is important....

these are the same players on the fortress map who will grab a vindicator and roll up to the doors, without predator support, when all 3 quad guns are active and the wall is still littered with lascannon and plasma heavies....

these are the same players who will fire their plasma into a melee battle, when their team mates aren't defeated....

these are the same players.....and on, and on and on, game after game after game, repeating their mistakes without reflection or aforethought

they will never learn, you just have to manage them....
  9. Many toimes 'ave I (mostly, cuz sumtoimes an ork er two be muckin' 'bout wit' me) alone defended a point dat haz yet ta' be captured, only ta' have it fall afta' I dun get noticed by an enemy. Eitha' dey kill me, er I kill dem and den dey come back wit' two er moar o' dere buddies. Me yellin' ta' da uvva' orks mainly goin' unnoticed until it be far too late ta' prevent dat point's capture

I thought that was the cardboard sign you hide behind marked 'Chaos Git here!'

But yeah, SO many don't have a CLUE about the time mechanics or think you need a tactical type to stop a cap. There needs to be more/clearer explanation of the time mechanics. It is NOT like most other games.

Had a game on Saturday where EVERY enemy ran to B on Zedek and two of us slunk around the edges and capped A back twice to keep them from taking B. Once with less than a second left on B's cap timer. HAD to annoy them.
