I love the idea, that the community will lead it self.
So why not let the beta players choose the first War Council? So it will be someone you had the chance to proof him-/herself erlier.

For me, if I will not be able to play the beta, this would be no problem. I can proof myself after release and may have the chance to become a part of the War Council later. So what?
(Besides the point, that I don't want to be a part of it. ;) )

Election solely on votes is risky since we don't want big clans/guilds always voting for one of their guys : )
However I imagine a hybrid model with votes and scoreboard related feats would do the trick.

(tbhI'm just interested in burning ppl to death while laughing maniacally on local chat ; ) )
  3. scoreborads are senseless for the warcouncil vote
since their score says nothingabout their qualitys as leader

since the whole faction will vote there is no need to fear that some1 will manipulate the votings in an illegal way
and if an leader is voted and voted over again he might be really good at it? :p

maybe have a rule like "after got voted to the warcouncil 2 times in a row you can not get voted in the next vote"

As stated in other threads, this is way too early.

My point is; we are 2 years away from a game, we do no know the personalities that are here now, nor do we have a solid community leader. You say you have friends, and some experience leading small groups irl, that however does not translate (always) in to being a good leader in a game. Then we can discuss the whole strategic vs tactical leadership as well.

You can discuss structure, titles, administrative stuff all you want, I support that, but I would not start looking at names until we can see who will start leading here on the boards, then in BETA, and finally when it goes live.

I won't support anyone at this point, not even myself, I can verify all the stuff I have done, but what do you care? why should you follow me? I have done nothing but make some posts, and that is how I look at all of you. It isn't personal, it's just a simple fact.

The other thing is as well, we have not seen each other under stress. People usually go one of two ways when under stress: they step up and perform or they go to shit. And we won't be able to gauge that until we see each other on the battle field.

No, plan now, get your warband together, and when given the chance, lead them well and your name will become known for ill or for good. But I won't support you based on unfounded (by my perception) claims.

  5. That is quite possibly one of the most intelligent things I've read on this forum so far.

I thank you, and you're quite right, I apologise to everyone for my haste and eagerness. This game has me so excited already it's difficult to think straight.

  6. it would make sense to have 2 counsel members pur legion sense were going to have a fifth legion it would make sense ad it would make it easier for each legion to have 2 members in the council.

    1. Thank you.

    2. I felt your well written and well intended post deserved a respectful response. To be honest, I am right there with you. I have not been this excited about a game since SWG was announced. It is hard to sit and wait, but that is our lot in life at this point.

    3. Love the enthusiasm!
  8. You sir may count me as a brother, and when the time comes I will gladly spill loyalist blood with you.

    "real world combat"

The farthest I'm going is convincing friends to be excited about the game. I'm not even trying to comvince them to play chaos (little "c") yet.
