Warlocks have a healing power in TT (renew), plenty of buffs debuffs and barely any direct damage power, just the opposite of what the lore says, they are supposed to use their powers to destroy their enemies and farseers are the ones supposed to support the army...
I hope that Eternal Crusade allows for small, and large groups to be able to operate tactically and efficiently. I want to be able to have a small group of friends be able to do most things that a large group can do but on a smaller scale, and that may sound confusing so let me give an example; In large groups you'll have more people doing more roles (Healer, Dps, Tank ETC...) compared to a small group only focusing on maybe DPS or something, but as a smaller group focusing on offense they probably won't have a healer. So it would suck if as a normal infantry soldier that I can't help a friend thats been downed, I dont mean that I should be able to revive him, but atleast drag or prolong the time until a unit that can heal gets to us. I think that would make for some sweet cinematic moments and atleast let friends do something instead of just watch them bleed out. Regarding self revives, I frankly would HATE to see that in the game, imagine putting a man down and running up to execute him and he just gets up and falcon punches your face in and kills you. It would be so annoying seeing the downed system be completely worthless if everyone just needs a medkit to get back up and fight, this would also render people with revive abilities almost worthless. If you say that its only a founders thing/race thing/Class thing or even just bought with RTP that just makes it even more annoying, limiting it to people who pay for founders makes the game pay to win, making it for a race makes that race OP, making it for a class makes the class OP and buying with RTP makes it pay to win aswell. The downed system seems like it will be a big part of combat and I would hate to see everyone just fucking the system like that.
Have you noticed how right now they're only showing us stuff with Chaos and Loyalist Marines? They are very similar, by design, which makes them easier to work with to get the earliest stages worked out. So what am I implying? We aren't seeing Orks and Eldar yet not only because their art assets are so radically different from the two different flavors of Marines, but also because the way they function and handle in the game will (almost certainly) be as well. Yes, everything looks almost identical right now, but that's because they're working on two groups with very similar styles and functionality. Launch is still two years out. Speculating that everything will behave similarly but with different models is thoroughly premature; we only have LSM and CSM to go by for now. Have a little faith and... BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! FOR THE EMPEROR! UNLEASH THE SWORD-WIND WAAAGH!!! ...relax. Let's see where this ride takes us. In the meantime, browse and contribute, by all means. Have a cup of tea, or enjoy a nice Orky cigar while you wait. --Regards, Ulf
Not true, asymmetrical balance is not what THQ did with Space Marine. They also stated they are not following TT for the game mechanics, but the lore and what they know about military affairs. A rocket, coming from a squat or a puny human will damage a tank, a bolter round fired by an astartes will not. It's going to be like Chess, Assault curbs devastator in close combat, devastator stomps assault at ranged, tacs will be superior tactically (obvious) outflanking devastators and out-gunning assaults. Eldar will be quicker, Marines more resilient. Etc etc etc. Meaning each race and class will have its strengths and weaknesses, but each of those will be different for each faction. But a pawn can still take down the king. Asymmetrical balance. Space Marine is symmetrical.
The thing is, which other class do you use as support? farseers? they are supposed to be more rare and powerful (even if they don't use their power offensively) than warlocks, a healer (don't remember the name of the path, the one that heals Korlandril after his first battle) or a bonesinger? they don't seem to have any offensive capabilities and then you have warlocks that are more common to see on the battlefield than the others and are used as support troops for their powers in TT. What I would like to see is warlocks being able to go full agro, maybe let them equip a staff (not lore friendly I know) and be worse at melee but have access to more offensive powers...
I'll establish the context: 1) First i quoted this comment: You stated that it seemed as though Behaviour wanted to make EC like Space Marine, basically saying it was symmetrical. 2) I argued against the point you made with this quote and why i stated that EC would be asymmetrical and thus not be like a bland copy of Space Marine.
Hmm helping friend of from downed state should be twice or even three times ttk time. Atleast it should not be lower or same as ttk in any circumstances.
It has to have some risk associated with it, same as executions. Probably moreso because executions are practically gloating (and farming XP) where aiding someone in the downed state gives XP and directly bolsters your force. I see the logic but if you can't kill a Devastator in the time it takes for him to revive his friend you could be facing off against 2 Devastators. That's no fun if they get 2 'lives' each and you're stuck without a revive buddy. I don't know what the perfect time requirement is but I imagine it needs to be both: 1. A definite risk and 2. Worth the risk a reasonable % of the time. edited. Bad context.
