Lash of Slaneesh? What the point?

So I just spent an entire game trying to make this power work. I mean I want to love it, it's purple, it's slaneesh and it has a sweet VFX.

But damn there are no redeeming qualities I can see,

    -Does no visible damage.
    -Has a charge.
    -Is LP intensive.
    -Isn't a smart weapon.
    -Short range.
-Has a CoF so RNG can screw you now and again.
    -No exp from assists.
    -Can debuff friendlies.

Someone tell me what I'm doing wrong or Devs fix your shit.

All of the 'offensive' psychic powers are bad. Cool in concept but never worth using in practice.

Destructor has short range and does terrible damage.
Flickering Flames is wildly inaccurate, like a bolt pistol, but does almost no damage and is extremely expensive in warp charge. You can and will waste an entire 125 charge trying unsuccessfully to kill somebody at even short range.
The Nurgle stream is semi decent against LSM shield assaults, but otherwise strictly worse than any other option available.
Lash is, as you say, pointless.

The devs don't seem to understand that in order for a loadout option to matter, it has to be good at something. If a psychic power or weapon addon or trinket doesn't serve a clear purpose then it won't ever be used and it might as well not even exist. The offensive powers are objectively awful at killing infantry, and they can't damage armour (tanks) at all. Are they supposed to be entirely cosmetic? What's the overarching design philosophy, here?!
XRuinX, Braken and Sumshine like this.
  3. I'm sorry but out of all the Sorc powers the LoS is actually the easiest to use and most effective.
Dont try and kill with it directly, just start engagements with it and rapidly follow up with a melee attack.
9/10 times this will let you oneshot just about any class with a single swing.

You get it to.... go past it for the heal after? Yeah that's all I've got. On both my Warlock & my Sorcerer I tend to leave that slot open because I can cram more charge/ regen for healing & use the 50lp bolt/ shuri pistol I'm obliged to equip as a ranged supplemental. I think all the prices on offensive powers are crack pipe crazy atm, haven't got Nurgle stream yet or Doombolt but I see that being another destructor 300lp for very little utility.

Well, I was going to make a snarky post, but I don't really want to get banned.

All the sorc offensive powers are supposedly intentionally weak. It's absolutely stupid. It should be changed, but based on the current state of the game they will never be touched again and reside as LP and AP traps for people who are not aware that a bolt pistol or plasma pistol is as or more effective.
  6. VoxC VoxC Menial

Being snarky is fine, so long as it's purposeful. Sarcasm can be used to make a valid point.

The loadout point economy in general isn't very well tuned. There needs to be a relationship between LP cost and overall usefulness such that weapons that good in a lot of situations are more expensive than weapons that are good in fewer situations.

    Plasma cannon
    - good braced
    - good not braced
    - good vs infantry
    - good vs vehicles
    - good at long range
    - good at short range
Conclusion: this thing should cost every fucking LP you've got.

    Lascannon
    - bracing imparts no meaningful bonues
    - good vs vehicles if they don't move around too much
    - shit vs infantry unless they're mentally handicapped
    - terrible vs massed opponents
    - terrible at long range
    - impossible to use at short range
Conclusion: no utility ought to equal low cost.

So it's not just the psychic powers. Half the weapons are overpriced in LP and half are under-priced.
  7. Hessian Recruit

Yep. The main point is that the offensive powers are intentionally awful while having substantial LP cost and a pistol that cannot be unequipped. This makes it far more egregious in my opinion. (also the plasma cannon is a poor example. It is so over tuned it actually can ruin any fun in a match.)

They should significantly buff all the offensive powers so that there is more reason to use them other then too be a special snowflake (Or use SoC on shieldscrubs for that slow time consuming assist).

I've been using it lately and it kills in 3-4 hits. Not that great but better than flickering fire imo. And although the bolt pistol deals damage faster, one clip is usually not enough to kill anyone. Even managed to kill tacs with bolters while they were shooting at me a few times, but maybe they were just bad.

If the melee wasn't so buggy i'd use sword instead 90% of the time though.

Didnt try stream of corruption yet, maybe its better.

dont forget Daemon bolt.. the slow as 450 damage grenade that explodes on impact... and has a bigger impact trigger radius than explosion radius. You even have to change your keybindings completely if you want it to track your crosshair.
  10. Hessian Recruit

I tried daemon bolt for a couple rounds a few days ago. For what should be a super cool ability at 250lp (on the already lp starved sorc) it is incredibly underwhelming and a massive TK machine. People love to run at anyone you throw it at. It is, apparently, intentional because nothing is allowed to be useful other then plasma cannons. It sure would be a shame if someone enjoyed playing a sorc. Actually they should just change plasma cannons to a similar projectile and charge speed. At least matches would be enjoyable then.
