^ That. We're the only faction. (Save poncy eldar, so dat duzznt count.) to have a weapon on on a non-heavy class that suppresses. Lootas are static defense at best, it takes practice to go on the offensive with one, since if anyone gets close your dead. The Big Shoota is far more portable suppression. And you can down Vets if they (Stupidly) charge at you. It -is- a support weapon though. Keep heavies suppressed and let melee take care of them. Or Shootas. The damage is good though, and getting used to the climb, you can actually deal damage too. I'd still trade it in for a Looted, Customized Vengeance Pattern Kombi-Shoota, though.
I've personally felt that I gravitate away from it more and more in favor of the shoota. It's just too many deaths when you happen upon someone around a corner, and the delay in firing makes you lose. I feel like Orks are just the right amount of tough when playing against them. It's noticable that they're harder to kill, but I don't think it's necessary to nerf them. For this and other advantages the orks have, they've triple the amount of disadvantages that become quite telling as well.
It's always the biggest difference I feel. DAs do have to reload after every ork killed, well almost, so they're at a disadvantage there, but don't dismiss the huge movement difference in the pairing. Orks turn the slowest, DAs the fastest. It's the easiest time the DAs ever have of moving around a target and shooting, and that's what makes DAs better at the moment I feel. Melee is very Eldar favored, due to reach but also the quickness and with the slow turn speed, Eldar can dodge behind an ork and hit him before he can notice, which again makes it easy to outplay orks 1v1 in melee. Orks can't just lockon and hit the Eldars with the reach and speed difference, so that hurts. Plus of course, orks have little going for them in melee, so it's just shooting for now. Hawks seem relevant still, just because of how slow orks are to react and turn around, but it might require two volleys to finish the ork off. The orks have the Eldar beat in heavy weaponry and just dakka. More power, and I find its often difficult to dislodge orks from a point or even survive defending a point for Eldar. In narrow spaces, movement is limited a little and if there are like 10 vs 10, I think orks win the encounter more often than not at the points. Ork vehicles might as well not exist in the matchup though. Yep, remember, your scorpion does more damage from behind against orks than the other two factions. It's the tradeoff orks get (more damage from behind) for the reduced headshot damage.
Scorpions benefit double from that, as they deal bonus damage on the first strike from stealth when attacking the back, which is added to the bonus damage orks take from the back, it's not impossible to two shot them doing this, Lashsword or not. Which, I'd have thought would have been one or the other, not one added on to the other. I've become quite paranoid about them though, and actively look for the little shimmer of them moving. I wouldn't say it's OP though, since you do need to learn to look out for them and if you catch them before hand they usually die pretty quick. Eldar Melee against Orks is very strong in my opinion. The only real weakness is closing the distance where their vunerable. If they touch you, your usually dead.Again though, not too bad since they die pretty quick mid range.
I think Orks are in a good place. I love playing as Orks there is a strange togetherness I don't feel with the other factions.
We'z too zoggin' slow when it comes to da choppin', but we'z got dakka fer days. We'z like doze blueboys, da tau.
I recently got in to game against them playing as CSM (Which i don't play often and play against less.) And i don't know if it's because i know Der trikky fingz from playing them, but i can down them pretty fast. The shoota hurts up close though with my stormbolter build I'll usually out DPS them. (Mostly because 160 Toughness.) His buddy running up the stairs after will usually get me due to most of my health being gone and solely relying on my armor to soak damage, which if it's another shoota I'm dead. I've survived a follow up Painboy just fine though. I'd probably recommend not using the sikky slugga against CSM, Since MoN's got in built poison resist and it's pretty much the 'go to' mark. I've got maybe four loadouts that use something else. Use a Zip Slugga instead or if you can use 100lp elsewhere take the dakka slugga.
I don't know, I think our melee could really need some help. Why is it that it always has to be broken, one way or another...
This is something that is often overlooked I think.. Just looking at DLB I can tell you that we are all rank 5 or 6. Most of are not only rank 6 but have been playing so long that we have completely filled out advancement trees and every item in the game. Also december sounds good... but what year??? LOL
