The cover issue is legit, but the head hitbox... if I run into a Bolter Tac in a caproom as a DA, I can often win by filling his skull with shuriken. If I run into a Shoota, I...can't. Certainly far more rarely, and usually more because they screw up than down to my own capabilities, frankly. It might be easier to hit an Ork's head, but that doesn't matter for crap if the combination of reduced headshot bonus and Ork tank means I can't kill him before he bodyshots me to death.

I seriously think it'd be better if Orks lost the headshot resistance and their giant lower gob just didn't count as head, same as our mohawks.

I will agree to an extent, we have got more accurate. The counter to Shoota boyz is, ironically, melee. Get behind them even with a knife and the jobs a good 'un. I don't for the life of me understand how giving the most melee orientated faction- at least we're supposed to be? An even bigger weakspot than the head, especially when in melee if your not careful you present it to the enemy. Scorpions are even worse, as they already deal some kind of bonus damage from a sneak attack, if that's from the back on an ork that's almost certainly dead because it seems to stack? And if not, follow up with a light attack, as he's likely not going to be able to turn around to face you in time, and a roll for the most part only prolongs the inevitable. It's the tactic i use on my (Admitedly far less squishy) CSM. Still works, just makes the getting to them bit more risky.

Yeah. Lashsword Scorpion and Fire Dragon are basically my go-toes for Ork-fighting. Cos, y'know, they don't care about headshots, and the sneak-attack damage is necessary when fighting enemies you really, really can't let shoot back. When I have to go DA to cap though it's.... not pleasant. Approaching outright not fun, almost.

    Incidentally, incase anyone's dubious:

    DA vs Shoota : 1.76 vs 1.25

Sample TTK numbers. A 0.51 second TTK advantage. In a sub 2s TTK game.

If you were green all the time, I'd be tempted to call you one of us.

I like melee. I love melee, to the point my Goff instinct takes over an i melee charge as a Loota. (Usually to protect someone, for the Greater Good.) But- I utterly despise melee against Eldar because of how fast they move and how easy it is for them to get behind you. I'm not saying "Eldar OP." Because let's be honest, Ranged does little against us for the most part. It's our strength currently, because we're the green Tau Empire. I have been shredded by one DA gun- i suspect TL-ASC? Though, the Eldar in question no doubt caught me with my metaphorical pants down. But damn is it annoying No more than meeting an Ork at range the other way around i suppose!
  5. I don't think Orks should be the most durable faction in a game with (C)SM in it. Out of all the factions Orks have had the least time in the oven, and our faction's design is pretty much a copy-paste of LSM with a bunch of half-peeled off bandaids. I think Orks are due for a comprehensive redesign on what our strengths and weaknesses are. We should be less durable, but put out better damage, which we currently do with most of our ranged weapons.

So, become a copy and paste of eldar, only with a bigger hit box and slower? The reason we're so tanky is because of how big our models are. We're easy to hit and we've been compensated for that with more health. I don't think that 25hp is enough. That's not even a body shot from a bolter. I kind of want to say change it back to the 50hp it was, though that'd make the life of ranged Eldar suck even more who have trouble killing us, though i don't think it'd affect their melee against us much.
  7. So we should have the best ranged DPS and the tankiest characters? Why both?

How much bigger are the models really? It's obvious they're wider from the front but what's the difference in surface area? In any case I'm not talking about taking away base health. Orks are the most durable faction because of wargear options.

Yes it is, do the math.
    300 / 38 = 7.8 (8 shots)
    325 / 38 = 8.5 (9 shots)

So long as LSM and CSM get those buffs and guns that's already on the UAT, in addition to the LSM Servo Skull that's still rather insane, I will oppose any nerfs to the orks. We need our durability and damage in particular just so that we aren't reliant on our crap support, the dok, who remains the all-around worst healer and buffer in the game.

Problem is, the Eldar in particular seem to be getting left behind in the arms race that appears to be ongoing...

To me orks seem very much about extremely strong close range Dakka and close range melee. Innacuracy is the single most defining feature about Ork firepower on Tabletop and this is something that we do not see much of in Ork EC gameplay. I would love to see Ork weapons be much more innacurate with crazy spread and recoil but put out such a massive rate of fire that it would almost be like a small coneshaped area of effect weapon. If a balance could be acheived where DPS could remain consistent by increasing rate of fire and spread as well as fall off (damage) but lowering general shot damage it would feel more orky.

Orks are the most easy-to-hit faction with very big headshot area compared to others...now if devs nerf orks
even more then just paint SM in green and roll out.

The main fact some players like this faction is that they are like underdogs who have "i-don't-give-a-zog" vibe.
Be it choopa, iron pipe or even a piece of wood they will krump everything and everyone given time and numbers (because they lack smarts while meks and doc's are doing so-so).

From what i read about them they need more "unf" in the strength department(wpn dmg, not pen, LP based trinket or something like that OR +% for rank above the first one).
The accuracy of their weapons is in the end handled by the players who put time in controling the recoil, spread and at which range to engage with the enemy faction in the game.

For now they are doing ok but any more nerfs will just made them....a boring experience to play.
Do you want to play a boring faction?
Are you ok with paying for this game and never ever trying this faction?
If your both answers are positive then.....that's your choice.
