?

Are you a Eldar/Dark Eldar who posses a deep hatred for your cowardly/depraved cousins?

  1. Yes, they are enemies as much as the mon-keigh.

  2. No, all Eldar are one.

  1. In german the orkish word for DEs is "Stachelspargelz", which could be translated directly with "Spikeasparagus(/z)" :D

Well the relation is not sooo easily defined. There is no open conflict... And as Zoati quoted, there are enough DEs willing to help the "normal" Eldar against common foes. Also the Harlequins are in contact with all Eldar factions, DE as well as Eldar, and Craftworld Eldar wouldn't want to piss off the Harlequins by confronting DEs, even though they view them as degenerative. Then again DE seem useful to the Eldar race as whole, since they keep feeding Slaanesh to avert her attention from the Eldar in general, though they do it to silence the pain of slowly being sucked out by her and regain youth. Also Craftworld Eldar may well be the only ones who could actually find and attack Commoragh, so the DEs try not to take them as torture subjects too often. But most important: Eldar are a race currently in the state of slowly vanishing from the galaxy and they can't affort to strenghten this process to the point of unreversibility by picking at each other.

In the end they don't view each other as friends, they don't view each other as enemies, they just get along.

Well, the second novel of the Salamanders-Trilogy mentions that an Autarch?/Exarch? once had to fight for his life in an arena of Commorragh, where he was killed in duel by a Succubus.

And there is this lore about an imperial governor who once killed a Craftworld-Eldar-delegation because he wanted their spiritstones for jewelry. The Craftworld-Eldar conquered his planet, took him prisoner, and handed him over to a troupe of Harlequins who then brought him to Commorragh with the message, that this human had insulted the race of the Eldar.

AND the Dark Eldar saved Iyanden.

So I guess, they are uneasy allies most of the time, but there's always the risk that the bloodlust of the Dark Eldar gets the better of them.

It differs between Craftworlds - Harlequins of course travel between all Craftworlds and Commorragh freely - as do some Outcast Rangers.

Craftworlds are somewhat less inviting of Commorraghans to their homes - but that is mostly because they are highly out of fashion: yet it is not unheard of for a delegation from Commorragh to be welcomed aboard some of the less insular fleets.

In truth though, all the remaining Eldar and Dark Eldar alike are highly suspicious of one another: as many have said - there is no true blood feud amongst our people. Yet, there is also a reason that all the Craftworlds distance themselves so far apart across the galaxy - we have no desire to unite as a grand empire again: we are a people, apart.

So of course, placed in a dire situation - I would gladly team up with my kin - whether Eldar or Dark Eldar alike - to overcome a greater threat. I would also sacrifice an entire system of Mon'keigh to save just a band of any of the Eldar trapped within. Yet given the choice to risk my Craftworld in the hopes of saving another? Unless the risk was quite manageable - and our presence quite undetectable - I may just leave them to their fate :)

    Schadenfreude? Hahahaha!

I see the Dark Eldar as enemies. As I root for Biel-Tan, it is madness to me that the Dark Eldar feed the Great Enemy and do nothing for the cause of the Eldar, let alone trying to expand in the galaxy or reforge the old empire.

The Dark Eldar are willing to use everything for their own ends, as long as this doesn't cause a threat to themselves in their plastic bubble called Commoragh. Other Eldar lives are not of greater importance to them. We should kill them everytime they cross our path.

Haha, you have no idea how funny "Schadenfreude Coven" sounds to a German.:D

My understanding is that Schadenfreude is the enjoyment of another persons suffering which I felt was entirely appropriate. Have I got that wrong?

Hopefully 'coven' doesn't mean anything dodgy in German!
  8. AS PROPHECIES have told, its not their fault that they behave like they do, but in the end, we will unite aganist .... She .. Who Thirsts... ! We are one! Two halves of one fate.

.....they behave like they do to preserve their own lives. It just got to an extreme. They just have attention of Sla... ah, -what a profanity- Of She Who Thirsts, and fight like this to save theirselves from ending in her stomach.

No, but A) this "Denglish" combination sounds funny for German ears and B) Schadenfreude is not considered dark, immoral or particularly negative at all, but rather a way of being amused. Schadenfreude coven sounds like a group for Dark Eldar with a sense of humour.
    Nope, nothing strange there.

Oh, no, we (the English) don't see it as a negative trait at all. I just thought that it fitted both Haemonculus Covens and the overall 'black sense of humour'' that the True Kin seem to exhibit in certain parts of the background.
