Killstreaks

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Demetri_Dominov, Nov 11, 2013.

  1. Will I get a "driver-streak" if I successfully shuttle 100 players in my Rhino APC from our staging area to an enemy objective? Will healer/medics get a "heal streak" if they heal/revive 20 players? What kind of streak will players get that are driving or running resupplies to the front line(ammunition, med kits, ect)

I don't think kill streak type mechanics(kill streaks giving you artillery strikes, CAS, ect) have any place in a team based objective game. I'm imagining there will be a myriad of ways to contribute to your factions success on the battlefield, other than killing enemy players.

If kill streaks are reward by emotes and other type eye candy, or something you and your team mates hear, that would seem fair enough.

i'd rather the game have nothing that takes the focus away from your team/faction and rewards just yourself. unless it's a harmless emote or something the whole faction benefits from.

I remember there being a large scale shooter game that had a system built into it that strengthened the losing faction as a game went on to prevent complete landslide victories and encourage people to play the game to the bitter end. I want to say it was called "Rising Fury" but that might just be my brain wanting to give it a cool name.

I disagree with Killstreak rewards. It promotes selfish gameplay. But text based on killstreaks I could agree with. Like if an Ork got a lot of kills. an Ork announcer would shout, "Gork would be proud!"

  5. The only class that I would agree with kill streaks would be a Chaos Champion of Khorne... But that would be really OP when he explodes into a Blood Thirster... Cool but no way to balance it.

I disagree with having Killstreak rewards that give you things like artillery strikes etc.

  7. Agree. Besides, air support, supporting fires, and bombardments should only be available to commanders or the guy who's on the vox to command.

Damn, I must have missed the killstreaks page in the big rule book, or was it in one of the newer supplements?

That would be interesting; having to radio through to someone in a command bunker/the Strike Cruiser and deploy an Orbital Strike using a laser or something to mark a target.

    No! No killstreaks

The idea of unlocking a war cry after you get a certain number of kills is an interesting one.
But I'm thinking that when someone in your tactical group gets several kills (without displaying them CoD style) then the whole group hears a war cry from that guy and receives a buff automatically for a certain duration of time

A whole group can get into kind of a combat frenzy like this

It's just an idea, there can be anything really - we just need as many incentives to work as a tactical group (which is highly important in the Warhammer), not egoistic loner CoD style.
