From my own personal experiences, same as you having "stats" that will probably say the opposite. Anecdotal ftw.
I HAVE AN IDEA!!! What about if instead of kicking a player outright...Team killing effects your overall XP at the end of a round. Now I'm not 100% on how the XP works in this. Is it like battlefield, where if you leave / get kicked from the server, you'll gain your XP up to that point ONLY IF YOU DON'T JOIN ANOTHER GAME, or will you still get XP for that game when it ends even if you join another game? I guess it doesn't matter....but what if during a game you take a penalty to your end of round credits / xp (whatever there will be or both if both) based on both the # of tk's and your total team damage rather than being kicked? OR only be kicked at a certain threshold? At least this way you can be penalized for the 'accidents' as well as the legitimates...while not being kicked for an accidental / brain fart moment
I would be much more for heavy Experience penalties instead of kicks. Raise the kick threshold higher then. Say -300 experience for a teamkill. Safe from kick until like...5 or 6 teamkills then you're gone.
I don't even know what you're trying to get at with this but yeah, sure? I mean everything about PC teamkills is based on "personal experiences". There are no recorded metrics to back up anything. Seriously, I've played pretty much exclusively melee the last week or so whenever I play and I can only recount 3-4 times when I was killed by a friendly PC over the course of like 30+ games. Friendly grenades are just as bad as PC's.
There is recorded metric, you(or I( just don't have it and therefore can't have an objective opinion on the situation. 4(+-)% of kills are teamkills.(data from infographic) Worth considering. Btw, current system does not kick people for 3 sins. So its 3+. Worth considering also. Though, it might carry sins through several games, not one.
I think u play in a friendly atmosphere. .... I recall when I was casually standing with my raptor as I just respawned and boom I disappeared ... what I was ... friendly killed roopevil Next time I was in a melee and winning suddenly a friendly though why not plasma them and boom I disappeared in thin air ....... Next time I was having fun capturing a point amd boom a plasma friendly shot came and dead Next time I was capturing a point a grenade came and booom I was dead And many more
Memory bias. It annoys you when team killed, you are far more likely to remember those incidents then. For every time you were killed there were 10x more instances where you were not and a teammate helped I assure you. I'm not giving anyone a free pass to teamkill and people should be punished for excessive amounts, but usually PC only gets 1-2 teamkills at most(if at all) if used as responsibly as you can. And of those most of those just end up due to really crappy timing with an ally showing up in a room from a flank or something right as you shoot or runs in front of you right as you release your shot. I still think Teamkills should only give big experience losses and then once hitting a threshold of 4-6 teamkills in a single match THEN you get booted.
For those of you unfamiliar with Kantian ethics (far simpler in application), utilitarian outcomes (I killed 3 bad guys and only 1 teammate) have no bearing on the rightness/wrongness of an action. If you think it is worth the Sin, by all means kill the bad guys and your one friend. That doesn't mean you didn't do something wrong, just three right things and one wrong thing. The only person who can then decide whether your action was justified is the victim. Having said that, I'm fairly certain you can cancel out of a charged plasma shot by meleeing or rolling/hopping. If you are really in that thick of a mess with bodies all around (aka a melee), bust out that knife and pistol and have some melee discipline. It is 40k after all.
Mmmm...you have no pistol/knife as a PC user and you can't roll, just derp hop about 2 feet from something. You can crank non charged shots into a fray though, as long as you're good at not hitting your allies once again because even 1-2 of those will easily cause them to lose heh.
