@Grigdusher inspired this btw. Don't forget to visit the Q&A thread for more great sources like this. It's your community, your questions. I know that the 4 Legions are Undivided but in light of the plan to include dedicated S-Fs in future do you guys find this compromise as interesting a prospect for CSMs as I do ? _______________________________________________ 12. How are Wolf Priests being handled as they are both Chaplains and Apothecary for the Space Wolves? BRENT ELLISON: Wolf Priests are the support role for Space Wolves, replacing the Apothecary. They aren’t as good at healing & medic buffs, but have a Crozius and can offer similar morale bonuses to a Chaplain. _______________________________________________ Keeping it rooted in the Basic Classes and setting aside War/psmiths, Dark Apostles etc ... Just on the face of it that easily makes room for a Khornate Support class within the scope of the Aspiring Sorcerer (Aspiring Champion ?) without healing and direct psychic aptitude but carries a nastier weapon than the average AS (Daemon Weapon ?) and provides his squad offensive buffs like the TT Warlord Trait Hatred Incarnate (Hatred) or good old Blessing of The Blood God (psyker resistance). No, it's not a Sub-Faction specific class, it's a God-specific path but that fact doesn't make a real difference: Nurgle, Tzeentch, Slaanesh & Undivided Aspiring Sorcerers already confirmed (more or less) and they are also divided by God within a single Sub-Faction and Class. Anyway, there are probably a lot of pathways for Orks, Eldar and CSM based on how Brent is approaching the Wolf Priest decision. Feel free to discuss.
Yeah WE should have a Psyker-killer champion, it actually makes more sense for them AND it's more fluffy (war god needs a warrior priests right? ). But aside the psyker resist, which is situational (ok it's useless until grey knights will come) they should have some buffs.
I can think of a few Psykers that need ample killing. Eldar Warlocks would be the obvious meta but there's also plenty of Heroes like Librarians, Wierdboys, Farseers who will be all too common. But what I really like is the potential for melee beneficial buffs. We know Aspiring Sorcerers will have both melee (better Force weapons, nova powers, CC support buffs etc) and ranged builds (DD/DoT spells, ranged debuffs/buffs), so it would be an extension of their CC config I guess. Simulating a Khornate version of the Aspiring Sorcerer/Warp Charge dynamic is a problem. I wonder what resource Wolf Priests use ?
Well maybe some sort of rituals? Sacrificing small amount of hp or gaining warp charge equivalent by killing in melee and executing? We'll see honestly how the normal warp charges will work. As for his powers aside of psykout effect I would really see demonomancy.
Just Turn the Khornate "sorcerer"(Extra Heresy) into your basic daemonologist. Things like AS speeds buffs etc are nice but blessing of the blood god? NO WAY. Khorne would never show favor to a psyker let alone give him one of his greatest blessings. Instead you could have the support wear a brass collar that gimps his stats but buffs those around him. There's stuff to work with but not sure how it will be implemented. Khorne has always had lots of neat and interesting wargear options so these "acolytes" of his are interesting idea nonetheless. Heck they could go old school and have this guy emit an aura of Blood Frenzy making every stronger and faster in melee etc.
Why make him any sort of Warp dabbler in the first place ? It's unnecessary. The Khornate Support doesn't need to be any more a Psyker/Sorcerer/Ritualist than a standard Apothecary would be a Chaplain. What Brent laid out is that WPs and Apos are 2 distinct class configs for the same Faction, with restrictions that befit their lore identity. I challenge anyone to find me an Apothecary carrying a Crozius. Likewise the Khorne guy isn't a Psyker in any sense. Just for clarity on BotBG: -- Sourced from Codex: Chaos Space Marines 6th edition, Kharne's entry --
Well yeah thats what I was suggesting. The Khorne support shouldn't be a psyker, he could simply be an acolyte who's very eager to serve in his name and acquire his favour whether it be through sacrifice or actual combat. Yes thats how it works in the travesty that is the 6th. Daemons also have the blessing although throughout the years for Chaos the rules have changed from absolute immunity to psychic powers whether they'd be friendly or not to current 2+ deny the witch.
Honestly id make them the age old Apos that date back as far as Angrons decree to implant the nails in all his sons. Basically like if a Churgeon and a Mad Dok had a baby.
Right, I'm just trying to make crystal clear that they should be mundane, nothing like the actual Aspiring Sorcerer though capable of fulfilling a Support role I'm frankly disgusted that 7th doesn't make more use of genuine counter-psykers for Khorne. Sorcery is very anti-Khorne however Khorne's blessings (BotBG & Collar) are all about nullifying psychic potency. Maybe it would have been a difficult fit within TT and given CSMs too much potency in blind matchmaking but ... When has that ever stopped GW.
