I saw a few gits on the battlefield using this weapon, including myself, so I thought I should create this thread to talk about our experiences with it.

    First, how it works:
    - two fire modes, direct fire and mortar
    - in both modes, uncharged shots fire a small grenade that ricochets on the geometry before exploding. Damage seems on par with a frag grenade maybe?
    - direct fire charged shot shoots a fast rokkit straight ahead, with slight descent at longer range. One shots anyone and deals good damage against vehicles as well. Has trouble aiming downwards when braced on almost everything. Baasically an upgraded version of the rokkit launcha.
    - mortar charged shot works exactly like the plasma cannon equivalent; you charge, you see the predicted trajectory (not too reliable sadly), you fire a slow moving ball of death in a high arc. It can reach pretty far, but for that you need to aim so high up that you can't see where the shot will end up.

So, first thing to note: you need to reload after every shot. And you can't reload when braced. :(
Uncharged shots seem pretty useless, as the ricochets are too random to rely on them. Still,it's nice that we actually have something that can shoot on the move, but it is a far cry from a PC snap-fire. And, again, you need to reload after every shot...
Charged shot are very killy, but their AoE is deceptively small, either that or lag. The direct fire is probably the best of the two in most situations, but the projectile seems to have a really big hitbox and will collision on everything before it can reach its target, and sometimes on nothing (invisible tank barrier maybe?).

I'd say this is a pretty good weapon, but very niche; it can probably work well when defending Harkus for example, and mortar mode may be able to clean the walls - if you don't get shot beforehand. Still, I love this weapon, I want to marry it, but the uncharged shots need some work probably.

~edit: also, no mods make me a sad Deathskull :(

Aside of reloading every time it sounds (and looks) pretty cool. Reminds me the Serious Sam cannon.

I use this weapon quite a bit and it's good fun. It's an incredibly situational weapon though, and it still needs work. All firing modes collide of EVERYTHING and that's a huge issue. A single heavy bolter can just shut you down because the suppression is so high you cannot aim at anything. And finally the weapons blown up in my face. And by that I mean I was standing in the middle of a bloody field, no one was shooting at me, I charge up a shot to hit a rhino in the tush, and POW, right in the kisser. I know it was a suicide so it's not like someone shot me.
  4. Everything about that picture is yes.
