Even if they have a degree of autonomy they are still bound to the same role forever. Tau are limited to their castes but as an individual they can grow. I dont feel necrons having that liberty. Im that aspect they are like nids, bound to their task forever.
I can see what your saying however im not sure it translates well into the EC format...fluffwise yes the necrons are pidgeon holed, but personal growth doesnt seem to factor largely into EC's TPS set-up, we unlock different weapons and skills as we gain xp etc, we buy them each time with RP as we accumulate it to spawn, we can swap classes/roles as well as equipment/loadouts at spawning too If it was a more classic MMORPG then the Necrons would be dead in the water, no little warriors getting more powerful over time until they reached progressions end at Tomb Lord, the only possible downside I could see to Necron PCs inclusion in EC would be.. 1) the "chapter/craftworld/klan" system....is there any type of identifiable "allegiance" seperation between Necron groupings?
Just to play devil's advocate (as I would prefer Necron be NPC, but have no qualms if they end up playable,) so are the Eldar to a degree. That's why they have more base classes to show that different aspect warriors don't really ever change their type. Necron could conceivably follow the same route. Also, they could be PC and NPC...with Nids eventually going this way as well. In fact...let's go one step further in the idea pool. How interesting would it be in limited numbers to be able to spawn as a Nid playing for the NPC nids. A few brave marines or what have you go into a HIVE expecting AI nids or on the surface they get attacked in a zone bolstered by a handful of player Nids. Same for Necron, would be neat Add a bit of randomness to how serious an attack could be! Yea, apparently that was added after their initial codex. Rival lords that fight each other as much as they do everyone else.
an idea fully worth considering as an option later down the road, Ive always advocated player options
I don't see drones as pets. I see them as wargear. Also drones are a huge part of Tau fluff and always around. Shield Drones, Marker Drones, Gun Drones, Missile drones (for Broadsides). They can help off set the lack of Assault units.
would the drones operate autonomously?...eg they do their thing as instructed while your character can still preform other actions? basically a "pet" or would they work similiar to the "drones" in BF where the player is immobile and sees/acts as the drone while its deployed? not a "pet" and PS: my apologies to the OP for the continued derailment of this thread in the pursuance of this OT discussion lol
I understand why you would want a "I did not purchase a founders pack." but consider for one moment the intent of this poll. It is a poll to see how much money was raised from the founders pack from forum members. Not wether you like it or not. Also what if you choose "I did not purchase a founders pack" now and latter after some more info is released change your mind. Your choice is locked in and you can not change it. So honestly added the option you requested will do nothing of value for this poll. Perhaps another poll to see simply if you did or did not purchase the founders pack is ok but again same issue applies.
