Jetpack assault veterans should be able to take more of the tactical weapons, perhaps activated with a slot 2 widget or a trinket, or maybe with the jetpack assault specific iron halo. i'm not sure of the canon of this, but the codex can be interpreted to say that 'where there are no scouts, jetpack assault is also a scout' - and to fulfill this role of extended mobility scout, a bolter would be a more effective weapon. there are also multiple games that allow jetpack assaults to use a wider variety of weapons, DOW2 lets thaddeus take bolters, flamers and plasma guns when he has enough experience in ranged, which explains the logic of limiting it to veterans, other than limiting ranged jetpack assault ubiquity. Spacemarine also allowed a jetpack assault to take a primary weapon with a perk, though it is not canon from what i can tell. also swooping hawks get ranged weapons, so balance ___________________________________________________________ edit: i'd like a combi weapon like the gauntlets of ultramar or angelus pattern wrist bolter, but people seem to think it's not a good idea. CSM nurgle should get true grit though
If you let Swooping Hawk Veterans take power weapons and the boltor/power weapons has no mods slots and unaffected by advancement perks and it has more recoil and you give up your pistol for a knife meaning you lose the ability to lock on.
Compare the Weapon of a Swooping Hawk with a Bolter, and you see it wouldn't be balanced at all. JPA's are shocktroopers, designed to strike in and tie you up in melee. i think they should stay in that Role, a jumping Bolter would be too powerfull. But that's just my opinion of course
Though plausible in a book, it isn't necessarily the most common thing, and though not inaccurate, I'd refrain from using everything in DoW as the final word. Space Marine is, relatively speaking, astrue grit is a perk that allowed a melee character to equip the bolter as a sidearm, but I'm personally not one to be bound by TT...but canonically it is accurate kinda, see it with heroes in a manner of speaking, chaplains, librarians, other commanders essentially. Though if I could I would, but I advise against it, that's my opinion. There are some dots which shouldn't be opened...maybe. You could possibly make the arguement that heroes or certain elites can equip the bolter as a sidearm, certain penalties to one handing it, reduced ammo, more recoil, no mods maybe or reduced options, and you could cite the true grit as a reason why, no clue on that though. @Katitof it's sadly what is to happen, I just went back to page 430~ in the founders forum and jumped ten pages at a time looking through stuff, obviously with ~4K threads, it sadly isn't going to change all of a sudden.
Voted YES, but for Vets only. Look at DrDooManiC above, balance will be crushed more by this. ATM a solid JPA/Raptor should fulfill his role.
I am sure everyone would enjoy the sight of Stormboy Nobs with Big Shootahs taking positions on high ledges where they can unleash a long-ranged hail of headshots with comparable DPS to the Avenger's Twin Linked Shuriken Catapult. How about "fuck no"?
i like that idea, all of it. 1) swooping hawk can take swords 2) bolter for jetpack assault is in relic crates as "alt bolter", costing 400 (300 with perk, but therefore the same as the standard bolter) 3) alt bolter has less ammo and 50% accuracy compared to normal bolter 4) because it's a relic it gets no mods 5) because it's a relic not everyone has it right away, and it can only be equipped on veterans jetpack assault is one of the most niche classes in the game and it's locked to people who bought the game, and jetpack assault veteran is locked to people who bought the class. it'd be nice to have the opportunity to use it differently occasionally.
Id say yes BUT only if other class veterans get their own "special perks". For example: Devastator/Havoc/Loota/Reaper veterans get to equip a sidearm (on a side note, can Devastaros and Havocs get a new execution animation? Them shootign people with a bolt pistol they cant actualy use otherwise is kind of awkward. Maybe stomp on the poor bastard's head?). This might seem trivial but now imagine havign a sidearm all those times you got caught in a clsoe range fight with your Lascannon Zappgun or Kanon Deffgun. Tactical/Traitor/Shoota/Dire Avenger/Fire Dragon veterans get an extra consumable/grenade slot. Ground Assault/Traitor Assault/Sluga/Banshee/Scorpion veterans get an extra accesory slot (in cases where the 2 accesories would collide with eahcother visualy, the first one overides the 2nd one on the character model) Painboy and Apothecary veterans coudl get an extra grenade slot (this way they can use both a grenade and a healing beacon) Sorcerer and Warlock veterans would get an extra offensive/debuff spell slot Realy not sure what to give the Swooping Hawk veterans. Optional upgraded meele? Swooping hawk exarchs sometiems use power weaposn so that would fit for a veteran.
