I can agree that the spawn system is shit and incredibly inconsistent (*insert alternate and better spawn system idea for the billionth time here*) but as far as boundaries are concerned, there's no real issue (apart from the fact I'd like some open world-esque warzones). Redeploy as a Lascannon. It's the most essential tool to have in a match IMO; there will always be tanks, but they won't always be close enough to melt. Co-ordinate with your team and those tanks on that ridge line (which as everyone pointed out, are NOT out of bounds and CAN be melted) are as good as gone. Or exploit the level design. They won't even hit you at some window angles. Simple.
Unrelated to OP but here is a classic fix to that problem.... I can shoot over this railing, or if I am ready jump over and enter the fight. My enemies can not climb up onto our spawn position. Also, my enemies have a severe disadvantaged angle of fire making most AOE type weapons useless. This reduces almost completely the chance of AOE types blasting the spawn. The exception is grenades which if it is bad enough invisible walls can be added.
Yes, that's a brilliant idea. Spawn everyone crouched behind a wall in an open area. Or maybe just close up those avenues of fire and quit fucking spawning defenders miles away from a point or in direct line of fire? Only one of these ideas is not retarded.
You are an idiot. The idea is the spawn point is impossible for attackers to physically reach. While, the players that spawn in on that higher platform have protection and now a firing arc advantage versus attackers.
A better idea is just spawn defenders inside the god damn point and block off the open lines of fire from tanks.
I... I actually agree with you. Wonders never cease. Spawn protection should have the additional caveat of 'can't do anything useful from within the protected zone' otherwise it's ripe for exploitation. Driving a transport full of your buddies in a high speed chase, only to find yourself deep inside a no-drive zone and only 5 seconds to escape, which can actually be physically impossible if you were at full speed at the time, is balls.
This thread has sort of derailed into "All these bullshit map exploits need to get removed" but the core concept is still there. I've driven a few transports on accident into no-go zones only to explode violently when trying to turn around and get back into the main area. It's especially bad when there's clear paths to go around terrain only to suddenly get the notice, since it doesn't draw on your minimap IIRC.
Would be nice to get a line on the minimap, if not a longer vehicle warning. Ain't like we're all eldar who can just flip the tank around.
