It's Really Hard To Be Excited For The Game At The Moment.

  2. My main worry is that EC will be too similar to THQ Space Marine. Space Marine was a pretty fun game, but the multiplayer(PVP) I would only give a 5 or 6 out of 10.

TTK was non existent, classes had very limited equipment options, Melee classes restricted or confined to jump packs, Extremely limited progression trees for each character/class, limited loadouts, your armor being purely cosmetic with no effect on your characters survivalbility, limited selection of weapons, no weapon customization.

While I understand the campaign will be the main focus of the game, if our characters and classes have very limited progression options and limited options for weapons and armor, I dont think the campaign alone can keep players enthusiastic.
  3. we already got confirmed that we will get 10 different melee weaponTYPES at launch

i think that should be enough for the start :p

so, why did you write a wall of text if you aren't excited? you must be dedicated to the idea in some way.

I'll provide you an example of some doubts based on facts, just so we can begin to develop a working definition.

If you see concept art that looks nothing like the design of the IP the game is based on, then it would be reasonable to say 'I doubt that this game will be as loyal to the source material as it claims'.

If you see in-game models that don't look like the concept art, then it would be reasonable to say 'I doubt the developers can deliver on the design they promised us'.

If you see gameplay videos that deviate from the style of gameplay that the developers promised, then it would be reasonable to say 'I doubt that we're getting the kind of game we expected'.

The doubts anyone has been expressing have not followed that mold. Instead we've been getting shit like 'the trailer was pure CGI, therefore the gameplay will be bad' or 'Square Enix is publishing, therefore the development cycle will be curtailed' (people apparently have no idea how the publisher/developer relationship works) or my personal favorite, 'it's not being advertised aggressively enough, therefore [who fucking knows how this syllogism is supposed to end]'. These not doubts based on facts. They are doubts that reference facts but do not derive their substance from them.

For the record, I don't particularly like hit scan shooters and I'm concerned that aimbots will eventually become an issue. But those are reasonable doubts, and reasonable doubts are so much less exciting to talk about, wouldn't you say?

And that's exactly, as I said, the reason I keep my doubts to myself, until they are PROVEN wrong or right.I prefer to express concerns and hope that my doubts are proven wrong.

In addition, I firmly believe that every opinion should be heard, no matter how much I agree or disagree...that's the reason I jumped in in defense of opinions that I don't even agree with...

And yes, who actually needs intelligent, constructive discussion, when you can just troll and talk with single "catchy" phrases...?

So, we actually agree, but I'm just a little more patient with random whining...I guess I grew a thick skin over the years...;)

This is really what needs to happen. Everyone has their doubts at this point. Those should be voiced but there's a time and place, just like when we have something we like. Praising the devs endlessly won't get anything done, and neither will tearing them apart. Gotta take the good with the bad.
  8. You have the choice of ordering or not ordering tomorrow.

Threads like this aren't going to affect anyone's decision.
