It's always a good idea to be cautious about an upcoming game release - but this one is still 1.5 to 2 years out, so it's on my back burner in terms of hype. I've been burned by long release games before (looking at you, Duke and Aliens) so I've certainly learned my lesson.

Still though, I look forward to it - just a bit more cautiously.

At some point we're going to start seeing FUD from competitors' marketing teams. We're now right before the Founders Program becomes available, so it very well may have started already. For those who don't know, FUD is Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt; the most common tactic is to spread disinformation (or outright rumor-mongering) in an attempt to make the consumers doubt the promises made by the company. It's a tactic employed by one company to undermine another. Before somebody claims otherwise, let me assure you that it does happen in the gaming industry.

So far nothing has occurred to make me doubt that Behavior can deliver the game they promised. Trying to see reasons for doubt and apprehension in every little detail when a game is still in alpha is like playing the tarot; it might make you feel informed, but you're really just galvanizing emotions, not gathering facts.

So, any doubts are delusional, ill-intended or part of a conspiracy?

Please, don't go that way...it's getting really close to fanboism...just a friendly advice from a guy that enjoys having discussions with everyone here and wants to keep it that way...
Relax, if you don't have doubts, good for you...don't take into account the doubts others have and have fun...
I have plenty, and I reserve the right to express them, when/if they pass a breaking point. And I tend to have doubts based on facts usually...

Hey, if you are feeling less than enthusiastic, that's cool, I understand.

What I don't understand is your need to spread your disaffection all over the place.

You want to play it safe, and hold on to your money until you see some concrete vids, etc? That's fine, the Founders Program is open right up until release, and those of us who commit earlier will be rewarded for our commitment by getting earlier alpha/beta access.

So go ahead and have your doubts, nothing wrong with that, just stop trying to convince everyone else that your doubts are in any way accurate or assured, because, right now, we all have access to the same information.

Oh, and for the record, I am totally psyched about the game and it's development.

Correction there, I expressed that I have doubts, not what doubts I have or that someone needs to agree with me...big difference there...you can think whatever you want about the game, the company, design decisions etc...I'll do the same...

On the contrary, some people seem to think that ANY doubts are de facto not valid because they don't like doubts...

As for what my doubts are, as I said , I reserve the right to express them...
Because at this stage things may work out fine, or the doubts become actual problems...big difference there also...saying that you have doubts about something being right it's not the same as saying something is not right...

As I said, relax, I hope everyone gets to have fun in the game we all hope that EC will be...

I wasn't really talking about your posts, Shonedar, your posts generally raise valid points and aren't just a blanket of speculation and uniformed rhetoric.

No, my post was largely directed at the OP and others like that, who try and convince the world that the scary things they see in the shadows are real, and we should worry about them RIGHT NOW!

We all see the same things, the same shadows, have similar concerns, but I wish we could just wait until these concerns become real before we start railing against them.
