as far as i can tell the founders program is different to early access to the extent that early access gets the company testers for the game, where as the intended purpose of the founders is to not only give access to those who are diehard warhammer fans but also get those lorenuts onto development by giving feedback about the game where as a early access like day z is just bug reports and playing in my own opinion id have to disagree the more money in the project the better it may become and being this early its effect should be greater than in beata
Steam keeps half of all money earned until release I believe in order to keep devs working. And by the look of it this is a little more complex than "it was a scam". I am really defensive over this topic of scam because games are made with passion and cash grabs just don't make any sense. You earn enough money to live a few years but then your broke and no one will buy anything you make. People hate on Minimum because they thought there was some one from The War Z working on the game. It is reputation destroying move. I am sure some people try it but to be able to build so much hype for your game for it to work isn't worth it.
One thing to add : they precised that founder program isnt quick starter = if you dont buy founder, the game will be released anyway. In facts if you feel that you need more information about the game, dont go founder and wait the release. to my mind, founder program is for those who want to get involved in the game development. And you get bonuses ingame for your involvement.
I can understand why you feel like that OP but that maybe comes from the open politic BE is doing how long was DMO in development before we found out that it is in development? I dot know the exact number but It was for years EC was announced just after they got the licence for WH40k and that's one of the reasons why we do not see epic trailers or even need them the early founders is happening cause we fans wanted a way to support BE and the reason why there are no big news in any well known magazines or online shows or whatever is simply cause it is to early for that they do not even have the core game running so they might do more publicity when we are closer to closed beta (so maybe at the end of this year we will see some big news, and we may already know the whole content cause we are lurking the forum each day)
I'm a pessimist myself when it comes to MMO's but I think it's too early to get cynical just yet. It's almost a full year until they release. I think we'll get a much better idea where the game is heading once we get a few proper gameplay videos (with most assets completed) which incidentally is when I assume they'll start marketing the game more as well The thing I worry the most about is their time schedule. A lot of the game still seems unfinished and VERY untested so I'm not sure how they're going to pull it all together in just a year
Previously said that the Founder program will be finished when the Closed Beta Test starts. The founder program going to last 18 months! Thats a fat juicy 1.5 years. And we are still only at the CBT start. Which - based on my experiences about other games - with the OBT (if there will be any) can last half a year aswell, but definitively months.
I was excited, but i do feel downed, tomorrow is the founder packages i had my money ready, but with nothing but 105 interviews saying the same thing over and over, and all exclusives never even showing, when i bought a founder at least they showed us a gameplay trailer of sorts, or some cool CGI. And i keep hearing next week next week next week it is coming, ill hold on to my money until substantional showcasing has been added, i can wait for next week... Truth to be told i think the game news sites are treating eternal crusade like a second hand low tier game.
At this stage without game play for all races/most of the classes and keeping it a secret from fanbase yet showing it to IGN which dont even care to publish it for 3 months really feels like a bad move from them when it comes to marketing. And now its the last day and still no footage or anything else from ingame. Bleh
