And I have moderated enough forums to know that every minor change make the players whine and over-react as if their life was in danger "I've lost a 3% damage, you've broken my character, now is trash, ducks will be OP now!" By the way, sorry, let's return to topic.
Getting back to topic, I agree that whatever they've changed has hurt Eldar considerably. It could just be that we're all very very far from getting our Relic Armour and that was, in fact, the only thing giving us parity in melee against wave after wave of chainsword and choppa wielding assault classes. Right now our Dire Avengers are just mincemeat for these guys if they close up. Which they can, because we have to use them to cap. It's not necessarily bad, but it's definitely frustrating. The tiny stun duration of the Parrying Blow makes it practically worthless, so even when you win the melee RPS as a non-dedicated melee class, it means jack shit because your opponent recovers pretty much as quickly as you do.
Occasionally see a bunch because some super Marinos etc keep the antis away from close range with some seriously amazing boltin.
Maybe if one or two but I normally see swarms around 3-5 getting tanks. They still only make it so long
Actually, I was playing Agnathio? (the new fortress map) yesterday as a FD and was trying to kill a rhino and I was unsuccessful 4 different times over the course of about 3 or 4 minutes. There were 2 players just hanging out and guarding it. I think it was a tactical and a HB. They were blocking the only cover to the vehicle so I had to either run through them or through the open which was extremely risky. I eventually gave up because I didn't think losing that many lives was worth it on a fortress map. Maybe if 4 or 5 FDs did a concerted rush it'd be hard to stop them from killing a transport, but you'd be surprised how effective one or two guards can be against lone FDs. So long as the transport isn't right next to a building that I can just drop down on top of the rhino in which case I've done it even with 3 people right next to me.
As you said fortress works different as you have lives to worry about. Think about regular maps they will self sacrifice constantly
Well that's why I gave up, but my point was that they successfully fended me as a lone wolf FD off 4 times in a row when I approached from different angles and different timings. It can be done, you just have to place your transport in locations such that the FD has to run at you where the defenders can see them. Too many times I see people park their transports right next to cap points. Literally right outside the building walls. This is suicide whether they realize it or not. It's a < 8 second trip to the outside of most buildings as a defender or back to it if it's in the process of getting capped. You need clear ground to defend. You know, like in real wars where they don't put their supply camp right next to a major front line that's under attack. Edit: Or just plain leave their transports undefended. I think that actually comprises about 70% of my vehicle kills.
According to my numbers, eldar knife should be on par with their spike knuckles, and our power sword on par with their choppa blade in both power and speed. Force on the other hand, couldn't tell you.
Orks appear to be the most powerful faction now. But as some posters tried to infer that the Eldar was good because of their guilds, that would not affect the overall stats. None of this has anything to do with skill or guilds. If you believe in statistics then in a true balanced game everything will even out. You may have a good guild, I am not denying that, but for every good guild there is a crappy set of pugs like myself.
