I would suggest to wait before launching the game... releasing it in September, or before the right time, would be a great mistake. I've hear a massive amount of people suggesting it. I created this discussion because it's a very important matter... like, THE matter. Here's what I think... I'm not a business genius but: 1- You WAIT to launch the game until it's finished and perfect or almost (because people utterly HATE to see even a small bug in a released game... and will be cruelly hostile), giving money for it. Then you launch it and it works great, so people love it and money comes back. Good work. Players have a good game and you have money and glory. And this is a good curricula for you that made the game... 2- You release it now, promising you will add more stuff, and nothing changes from Alpha's concept basically... and even if some people like me enjoy the Alpha, most of players absolutely does NOT... so no one is playing the game, the game dies, money will NOT come back, you WASTED your time (and your money), you have a FAILURE in your hands. And this is a BAD curricula for you that made such a failure... Your choice... Be good, clever, business-men...
Well yeah, but if their publisher insists that the game needs to be pushed out of the door by September, there's fuck all BE can do about it. Publishers care about money, not quality. Take EA for example.
Let's hope the publishers have some sense to allow BE to continue development. Or BE are able to convince them. Because you're right, they'd gain more in the long run due to the quality and appreciation for the product. We can all hope.. But hey, I'm not a game development expert. So I unno'
Hope is the very essence of change. Even if I don't like quotes about hope and dreams and so on... we need it. For the game.
They have told us many times there is no set release date. Whether it is in September, or December, or next May, it will come out when its ready. This thread is pointless...
What if it's not? Maybe they told us bullshits... and they are going to release it. Or what if one day it will be useful? It's something more...
Agreed. I truly hope that Behavior can get the additional funding needed in order to not be strong armed by their publisher into such an ill advised early release. Just saying...
Now, I am quite certain Nathan said, or at least hinted, that September isn't the official release date and that it might be released later, during the latest Livestream. Anyway, I think they are underestimating the negative backlash an early release can have. For the Develepors the "release" is just a date (the push of a single button in Steam) and doesn't really matter a whole lot, but for the average gamer the "release" means that a game is "ready" and fully "functional", not that there are parts of the content set to arrive at a later date.
