Isn't this the one that requires a track to be used for it to work? The whole skate park was designed with the tracks I think. You cant just take it out on normal grounds.
Exactly as this lovely gentleman has stated. This isn't very new stuff either. Granted, Lexus has done it in a much more beautified way, on a larger scale. It's actually levitating. But it's basically just a super-cooled magnet on a special track (That park). Maglev is a beautiful thing, but we're not quite at Back to the Future levels here. Without that track, you aren't going anywhere, no matter how many chilly magnets you have bored into the bottom of a plank. https://screen.yahoo.com/could-possibly-wrong-slot-car-174933473.html Here's a video of it from the tv show "What could possibly go wrong"
I was following this for a long time years ago when they started with the development and every one pretty much labeled it as a gag. I had to go back and check their progress after seeing this thread and it's all legit. Over time perhaps they could actually replace roads and other pavements with a substance ground into the mix to support the board...and cars, but we are still many many years from that happening mostly because it would all have to be replaced. Couldn't have a dead zone, could we. Another really cool thing that was in the works many years ago was the solar parking-lots and streets that can have computer controlled graphics using a ground up substance connected by computers to harness energy, power cars and have street lines and signs all automatic and digital. Ill have to find it again but i believe I originally was reading about it in popular science. A quick search in google just reveals some scams.
