I know this is most likelly a fake but i...i cant risk it,i must watch this thread. Oh Decartes's logic of possible advantages and disadvantages.
well, the notification was definitely legit. Whether he just renamed an existing game shortcut 'Eternal Crusade Alpha' is up in the air, AFAIK Steam doesn't really check anything about the non-Steam game other than its name. actually, I'll test this right now. edit I can get the name changed and everything in steam, but for some reason when I go to steamcommunity I show up as not having been online for 3 days. which is weird. but it does say I'm playing 'eternal crusade alpha' even though it's actually rise of nations.
Guys I could design a program in Visual Basic call it a game and have it launch with steam and make it look like I am in a beta. Unless the devs say anything about it I am going to go with this is a hoax.
This. It's not difficult, I've seen people do it and call it "Half Life 3". I've also seen one called "Please buy me DayZ".
I had a buddy make his Steam profile display 'League of Draven' whenever he got onto League of Legends. This kind of thing isn't very hard to fake.
