I'd be willing to pay $35 for an entire Heresy Set, armor and weapon skins for a faction. Not just a skin of a gun. Gun that is not even going to be used much or at all depending on the class. Take a look at ESO. $20 for the collectors edition that give you a mount and the ability to reskin any of your armor to imperial.
My personal experience with mmo and moba cash shops is mixed to say the least, i have spent money in nearly every mmo and some moba's stores/cash shops in the past few years and am more then glad to share my opinions. Do's: *All individual cosmetic items bellow $10 *Pack cosmetic items bellow $30 *Bi-annual sales *Pets/companions bellow $15 *Mounts/vehicles below $30-$20 (depending on size) *Individual in-game items/gear below $15 *Pack in-game items below $30-$20 (depending of amount) Don'ts: *Sell gambling items (i.e. lockboxes or packs that provide a chance at items) *Have another way to acquire rouge trader points other then real life cash *Re-release limited edition items later in the games life *Monetize dyes/paints *Monetize character transfers These views are formulated from participating and buying items in games such as Aion,Rift,EvE,Tera,The Serect World,Champions online,WoW,Diablo 3,SWTOR,Path of exile,Warframe,Neverwinter online,Wildstar,Startrek online just to name a few.
Honestly i'm fine with super awesome expensive stuff, but maybe not $35 for a single weapon, for a weapon i would prefer about 20-25 for something like that. But i would be willing to pay 35 because the chaos bolter si holy shit pooping hell awesome
This is a B2P game, BUT on top of that we get a cash shop just like in a F2P game. kinda disgusting ( PS2 is F2P and non exclusive guns cost 7$ tops) Micro transactions in EC are not really micro, they are macro, 25$ for a hero, bike, 35 $ for a gun etc. Items bought linked to a single character not faction/ account ( I know that is supposed to change ) So far cash shop stinks, and I'm disappointed in bE. Thats my honest opinion.
Here is a very insightful video about F2P/microtransaction games. The key thing from this video is that the most successful models are the ones where the customer wants to spend money on items and not that they have to. I know no one is making anyone buy from the store but if the weapons/items were cheaper ($10/$15/$20 max) then people will be willing to spend money. I think for the Founders Pack (which was an excellent deal) getting so much stuff for as little as $40 dollars really dissuades people from spending almost the same amount on a just a single weapon skin even if it is "limited edition."
My biggest bugbear in cash shops is why are all of the points sold in the thousands and all of equipment sold in thousands of points? I know it's just an aesthetic thing but this also goes into the argument of rounding pricing up/down to whole numbers, I've never seen the need to sell something at 15, 125 points when you can sell it at 15,000 and if you can sell it at 15,000 then you may as well sell it for 15 points and sell points bundles for 10 points a go instead of 10,000 points. Unless you have things in the shop that you can buy for 1- 10- 100-1,000 and 10,000 points what's the point in selling packs of 10,000 points? If the smallest price is 15,000 then make it 15 and sell packs for 10 points instead of 10,000. It's a small irk of mine but it would be nice to have it simplified.
