I haven't listened to a timescale given by a game developer for a very long time. Do you remember how long it took for GTA5 to be released on PC?
What have you expected? How much content we had from release? Some cosmetics and 2 pve maps + grav weapons. Everything else is balancing and hotfixes. We wont see campaigns this year. Merry xmass BHVR!
Problem is they give them. And for a reason: it is an indicator of process and a markstone for players to plan around. Delaying a feature once is not a problem in my book, shit happens. Twice makes the company look poorly organized an/or very unlucky and/or lazy, three times is...BAD. So if the schedule is not forced, it is the better move to not announce any dates you can not be 99% sure of keeping. Because if everybody wants it, knows it is around and waits for it only to be disappointed, well, problems inbound. If noone knows, noone cares. And then come out of the box and tell "Look, campaigns in two weeks, just a little more patience" and in 2 weeks, BAM, campaigns. Everyone happy. When campaigns come out who-knows-when, all the players will think is "boah, finally" after all this. Not good at all.
True, but then in my experience of the Livestreams, Brent says: "We should be able to release this by the end of this week... maybe?" and people watching hear: "This will be released at the end of the week."
Honestly I believe when there is common problem of crash to desktop this definitely jumps on top of devs priorities. Campaigns will come, but in the meantime I think it's important that the client is stable for the widest range of users. Have you been here long? Say they are working on something, shitstorm, say nothing, shitstorm, release things, shitstorm, don't release something, shitstorm. This is open development, they will get it done when it's done and try, in their own way, to let us know how it's going, sadly you need to keep in mind they have proven that they are much slower then they expect to be.
