Cause CoD sucks? What do you mean with ammo spending classes? Do you want the guns to not use ammo? a mini pink horror maybe?
I know, I know. I just mean some people in this thread have a point. IF you could have a "pet" in your own quaters and not on the battlefield, I think it would be OK. Just as a cosmetic thing you can have if you want.
If this game allows it, I'm all for it. I'm not saying model the idea after any other mmo or cod. in fact the dog swarm idea really only applies to orks and tyranid in my opinion. they are swarm armies that would benefit from such a mechanic. Otherwise I think combat pets should be tested out as a mechanic for certain Hero classes. such as the techmarine, Librarian. even a dark apostle could use a retinue of loyal cultists. Space wolves should be able to train fenrisian Wolves if they spec out the right way. these pets can be functional for combat. providing a health/damage buff that is readily apparent through their presence. more or less like an active overshield that attacks enemies for a little damage. with a modest range of course. should be able to upgrade pets/servants with requisition. ex: Servitor is upgraded with a heavy bolter. each pets/servants buff or function would all depend on the lore. also I think DOW was on to something by having techmarines able to place down tarantula turrents. I really think table top Techmarines should be just as versatile. it makes sense to me.
an ammo spending class is someone who drops a package with ammo for everyone maybe i should call it ammospender class then? ^^
small german-english translation problem i guess Der Spender (German) = the Donor (English) anyway - most likely we will have ammo and a class which gives ammo to other classes I would rather call "supporter" or "dispenser"
Yeah, cause (I don't know what you think about this but) Hunters in WoW became REALLY boring after cata, that was because you didn't need food for your pet, you didn't need ammo. The ammo thing was a really cool idea but they took it away. and to be serious. If they would not have ammo for the guns in eternal crusade, I would leave instantly
Uggh not mini-pets - if you really feel that you have to add useless social/cosmetic/collection mini-pets to the game then please restrict them to non-combat areas - maybe give players the option to not have other players' mini-pets displayed at all. In WoW, both Guild Wars and Firefall I've found "mini-pets" quite annoying (especially the ones with continuous sound fx!) and a real killer to the immersion of a game. Warhammer 40,000 really is too grimdark for you to put in social mini-pets without totally betraying the source material imho, unless you really limit it to small numbers of them as in-canon stuff like perhaps Servo Skulls or Servitors for Techmarines, or Psyber Ravens for Librarians, or some kind of demonic familiar for a Chaos Sorcerer, or possibly a high ranked Dark Angel player having a Watcher in the Dark. But even in those cases I'd rather the "mini-pet" was a representation of some kind of gameplay benefit/buff, if they aren't direct combat pets. I'm all for direct combat pets though if they fit the class and the canon. Example: If you ever add an Adeptus Mechanicus Tech-Priest class, then I think Combat Servitor pets would be necessary, and if you ever wanted to add Imperial Guard then I think the only way you could balance them against a single Chaos Marine, Eldar or Ork would be to have the player being an IG officer with several Guardsmen "pets" as their squad.
