Before Orks were added I played Space Marines and avg like 15-20 kills a game. Now that Orks are out over 4 matches already I'm lucky to get 3-4 kills per game. I unloaded 30+ rounds of the Tracey Shoota into a afk Space Marine and he didn't drop. He turned after realizing it and killed me with just a handful of shots. I'm not the only person who feels this way I've seen other people sharing the same concerns. Something doesn't seem right. Maybe, its just my imagination but 30+ rounds into a window Afker should be dropping them.
I've noticed that Ork Dakka is very meh... I suspect it has to do with accuracy, but that is just conjecture. I've got the drop on a marine, using a shoota vs his bolter. I hit first, he turns and fires, we both hold down the trigger. Marine wins. I've also sprayed marines with the main turret on the transport and it doesn't seem to do much. It could be a little lag related as well. However, if accuracy is the issue, add lag to that and you won't hit much. I'm bad at melee, but I've gone that direction for now. EDIT: I will add that the Loota's Dakka seems okay, but damn me if I can kill anything with a shoota.
If it is numbers, then they should be able to hotfix it easily, if its a bug or lag, might take a while to fix, but yeah, their guns seem a little weak
Ork ranged damage is just weak by design. Thing is, they don't really make up for it in melee, being as good as anyone else.
Normal shoota seems...ok, I guess. Big shoota is garbage. Rokkits are garbage. Zzap gun is almost ok, haven't confirmed but can they charge without holding on target? The dakka loota is pretty good. It seems like the design intent is for a lot of teamwork. Use suppression to get the boyz in to chop em up. This makes them actually bad at close range shooting, which is...interesting? You can shoot most guns for a long time without overheating, so just keep shooting. Don't worry about hitting anything. Once in melee, though, orks have no real advantage against enemy melee, so all that dakka comes to nothing. I dunno, it just seems like this faction needs way more teamwork than any other faction, which makes them weaker in pub games.
Took almost 60 rounds with the shoota more often than not to down a single CSM/LSM counting for missed shots, bad weapon accuracy and not so great damage. I mean it fits the vibe of orks but feels bad man, it will get tweaked though I hope. More importantly the mess that is melee...so wonky lol Orks be like
This would work if suppression was actually worth a damn. As long as it doesn't affect plasma guns/cannons (you know, the weapons that one shot us by aiming it in our general direction) we'll never be able to get in close and personal, and even if we did, as you said, our melee isn't even that good. I've unloaded a full clip of the fast slugga into an unaware PC dev, point blank, after which he casually turned and killed me with a single snap shot. While still being at 20% health (and at that range, I'd assume he got hit with his own shot).
Combine bad ranged with wonky unstable melee and you have a seemingly underpowered Ork faction. Need to feel this out though still early, but these initial play throughs are kinda brutal lol.
