Orks are F2P, they are definitely going to have a numbers advantage. Frankly I'm more concerned that when races like Tau and Necrons come out there'll be a massive bumrush that leaves many of the other races in a dire situation. That's so far off that we might not even get to those races' launch before the game has crashed and burned, though. Who knows?
Most likely it will be. But don't worry too much, like someone said, 2 yrs to go, give Eldar craftworld time to grow. One more thing, even Chaos grant me my first victory in War40k and I been playing CSM ever since but I'm willing to join Eldar if they are too low on population as I always did in other games. I'm sure there are many people like me. Again don't worry about organization stuff, you can see some organizational attempts going on but the best may come last. Think like this, when the game launched there will be a guy/girl (don't underestimate ladies ) who never play War40k before but interested in this game and he/she really good at leadership, strategic skills. Smaller groups have to find the way to fight larger, I never bother if my opponents call me coward. What can I do it's not 1vs1, it's 10vs1. Honor only applicable in a duel. Hm talking about duel, I have one thought, can we call the SM, CSM captains to duel with Eldar...Exarch, looser will withdraw their army. Nah, just bluffing, that's not gonna happen, people want big fight.
Don't forget there will be dirty heathens like myself who will try to have different race characters in different servers.
It's an issue, to be sure. But with proper buffs and advantages for outnumbered races, and the fact that some people will simply roll the least played race for the challenge - It'll probably be fine.
F2P orks will give them a large number advantage, Eldar might indeed be the one with the least members but there are always players that have multiple characters and play with different races. Also, if each race plays different then it'll come to each players preference, from my few knowledge I think eldars excel in stealth so people who like to play as ninja-like characters and such will want to go that route.
If the game allows it, I will play Space Marine and Eldar. Space Marine main and Eldar for the heck of it. Oh, and a little Ork here and there, just for fun! I believe most people will try all factions and settle on one as main but still play the others for fun (assuming the game allows this)
I will admit I foresaw myself playing a SM but if they are a chaotic mess due to large numbers of players not working together I will gladly move to a race who strive to play as a team, use tactics and follow orders. I have changed factions in other games to help balance sides or join players taking the game seriously and I'm sure there are others who feel the same
True brother, the big organization is difficult to maintain, due to larger numbers they have which increase internal conflicts. May we see each other as Eldar, lol. Agreed with this too, it's not about bossing people around, it's about discipline. Many people let ego get in the way. We still have fun if we take the game seriously. Why not? after the victory, we all meet up in a bar have some beers, feel good, doesn't it?
Orks are going to be getting a truckload of boys through the F2P system, so that shouldn't be an issue. Though I'm not sure how they will balance Eldar, because if they end up having stronger tech, lot's of power-gamers will switch to them, and could potentially out populate other races taking away their only downside.
