Because I would prefer not having to wait 6 months to play the game. All I heard up to this point is Nvidia providing support and manpower to implement PhysX and GameWorks in the game but there is zero info on AMD doing their part to make sure their hardware is not gimped. Would be nice if I can get some info from the dev since I am using AMD graphic.
AMD would not be working with the developers. I'm not sure where you heard that Nvidia was providing special support. Typically that stuff is built into the engine. They are partnered with nvidia, but this does not mean the gameplay will reflect that. It's just a marketing deal. There is absolutely no reason to assume that AMD cards will be left behind.
To put it simply AMD/ATI doesn't cooperate with game devs nearly as much or efficiently as intel and nvidia. It's usually just marketing but it's also not uncommon to hear that AMD hardware is sometimes difficult to work with.
I actually see where he got that from. It's basically Nvidia's answer to Mantle. Still, don't expect your AMD card to run poorly because of this. It's not really how it works. It's just means nvidia cards will run better due to low level hardware access. I'd love to elaborate, but I'm not allowed .
We can all hope that at launch, that everyone who is told that they meet the minimum requriements or better aren't forced to wait for a patch because somehow they suffer random graphic glitches....-stares at SEGA/THQ about the failed Company of Heroes 2- I've suffered first hand with a GeForce GTX Titan Z because even though I met the requirements by a lot for a simple strategy game, apparently the devs never fully implemented support for the graphics card during beta testing and failed to even do that for a long time after launch. It took four patches and a shit ton of loop holes to be able to play the game without the game crashing to a visual code error.
Problem at launch? Never! Lol jks There are always problems at launch, asking for there not to be, is like asking matt ward not to like ultramarines.
First of all - no we are not working with AMD together. We decided for Nvidia mostly because of the good experience we had working together with them in the past. Support from their side was always spot on, and so far shows as well! Further, no, there is not going to be MANTLE in the engine as far I know - and we are not planning on adding it our selves for now - DX12 will take care of the shortcomings of earlier versions, so the need is really not there. As for problems at Launch - well, we have 2 strategies we are following: 1 - limit the possible problems by making decisions according to that (DX11 only (DX12 as soon it is available in the engine), 64bit only) 2 - we will test as much and as early as possible with the players together, we cannot simulate all variety of hardware out there, but players can help us cover 99% Cheers!
only driver related problems ... but I should mention, Nvidia had those too, they just react much faster!
