To be fair at least Brent is being transparent even if it's news we don't like I respect him even if this is bad news to my ears and carries consequence. Like Zhull said, we lose some money, while this situation can cause them to lose their livelihood. All due to mismanagement likely above Nathan at BE if I had to guess plus some tremendously poor decisions by the old team under Miguel by making claims they don't have to keep while the current team gets put on the cross. Still...crappy news, long battle uphill to get hyped on this game now as a founder that knows what we lost. Almost wish I just found out about this game after launch, I'd probably be happier than a pig in shit with any 40k shooter...but again, knowing what is lost can't be shaken.
Agreed, if anything comes of this upon Brents back i will be severely disappointed, only thing the guy was doing is telling the hard truth, as painful as it might be to all of us.
BeHaviour simply should have told us this way earlier. Cudos to brent to actually talking about it. I thought Nathan would update us if his infographic was out of date.
But then we should help him and send a messega to bH. Its not his fault, that they never told it to us.
if i would think it would help id say a petition from the players that we would back a postponed releasedate, to give the devs some kinda mandate to show their overlords. this needs more time or it will bust.
True, if the devs need ammunition a petition may help but its a longshot. Business wise we can show then our lifetime value as customers on that petition as well to reinforce that they are making a poor investment by rushing this out the door half cocked. Example, I've spent $375.50 on this game from founding, subscriptions and RTP purchases to support the product since June 2014. I am sure there are tons of other people who have more or less but if we can quantify that number as a potential loss moving forward for them they may wisen up (hopefully)
Ive seen this suggestion floating around before, but i dont think it does anything if it realizes itself. Lets say, theoretically, we all stop playing the game, what then? The devs look at this, see our discontent and what can they do? They cannot change the state of affairs, they cannot magically make more dosh or time. If they present the situation to the higher ups at Behavoir i have a gut feeling they wont care much cause they already funded the project and want it out the gate asap (the looming release date thats probably not that far away) so money trickles into the company. So we just end up not helping polish what we will, come hell or high water, end up playing anyways. Its an action without a possible positive outcome, imo.
Indeed. /signed. Right. I care less about the combat bulk than the gameplay and the sense of investment and flow, but if all of those factors are being compromised then the disappointment will be tangible. Honestly, this is the sort of news that should go with a delay on hard copy release. MMO development cycles don't cease at launch but I worry this is going to launch as a very shallow and limited experience even with considerable RPG content. If time and money are short and EC feels like a solid Beta going into launch then open the PC version up as an ongoing Beta, with the store open, and push the full release back until the essential content can be added.
Most of EC's trailers are either in-engine or gameplay footage, those things are cheap, what are you talking about? I'm pretty sure that the Eldar trailer was made from actual gameplay footage. So the only ones that might actually cost them a lot of money were the 1st (DA) and 2nd trailers. The rest is basically what you said, whipped up trailers that were made in-house.
