    Much disappoint.

You know, I wrote paragraphs in reply to this but this news sapped my interest so much I just deleted it.

They have alot to make up for in the gameplay side to make up for the massive cuts to the game that will yield either a stillborn on launch at worse or a mutant of a third person lobby shooter at best now.

    What a shame.

What a sad day. Not even a map to choose our fights and take over territory?

I already knew "release" was just code for beta but not sure if you could even call it that now. They're missing so many key features to what they've been trying to sell us that this game isn't even close to the original concept.
    Korel and LOBOTRONUS like this.
  3. What we were sold on has already been done. Why not take advantage of 15 years of game development and take a look at how this game works?

    Open World Campaign
Dymanic "front line" and capturable territory
    Supply, Logistics, Attrition
    Tanks, Transports, Aircraft
    Airfields, Ports, Cities and Towns
    Factories, Production, Research and Development
    Player controlled High Command
    Player control of global assets

I maybe thinking it harsh .. But i think we all should stop playing this Game untill the livestream to show how angry the player base is .. We would be forcing the developers top stop laughing on livestream like everything is going well and Be serious and tell If they want this game to succeed or not ...

This game and another game { transformers universe } was the two games i supported in closed Alpha { founders } and looks like both of them are going to die tranformers Universe is already cancelled coz it was a disaster same story as EC

An mmo promise With open world and customization ..
Then it turned to map based Shooter with customization and Large battles
then it turned few players mindlessly killing each other Little to no customizaton and pre defined heroes = Players mad game died

funny part was it was free to play still i payed money to support it
Getzan, LOBOTRONUS and tcezar like this.

    stealing idea=copied.
if you look at their tech and infrastructure, then look how you can do this similar, or imitate certain aspects of it.
shadows of mordor did it with assasins creed.
in a way you could argue assasins creed did it with GTA.

heroes and generals are amateur devs at best, you cant tell me those guys are able to have an interactive battlemap and BHVR cant.
they CHOSE to go down the 'after launch' path.
I find it incredibly hard to believe the devs dont know these things, they must be aware they are about to release a game thats hardly even a shadow from the initial concept.

the game was fully funded already, this has been said 3 years ago.
there is zero vision in my book.
wtf do I know about gamedev? not much.
but i do know more about how to sell shit and the tactics that are involved, and so far the marketing for EC has been clownesque at best.
here's what a simpleton like me would have done ( ilike to back up my claims)

look at the trailers:godawful except that short one with the dark angels in it.
    waste of money.
instead since BHVR is so small, they should use their disadvantage to their advantage.
some muppet decided however to go with trailers etc and go down the path of the big players.
should have made trailers from game footage, host matches with guys like Zoran and DJpenguin, use the teamspeak audio and whip up a lowbudget trailer that is symphathetical: small dev team working hard to bring us something cool and amazing!
    underdog always has symphathy.
but no, it had to be the dark angels expensive one, then that retarded traiuler with the voices roleplaying *cringing again* and that third one with the sorc exploding in the gayest glittery way imaginable.
    Jesus christ people.

Then we had those two mammoths from Bandai namco fucking it up during the presentation some months ago.

Go for underdog position, small team using resources as efficient as possible etc. paint that picture, besides sympathy it also excuses the lowlevel 'trailers'.
    whoa..im sucha genius!

So with the money you save you could for example hire a specialist to do a proper assesment whats possible and what isnt.
He or she could have given BHVR sound advice on what path to take.

Then, instead of twinkletoeing like a 50 year old autist in his model-train basement with the melee mechanics you actually focus full power on coming up with a viable alternative that approaches the idea and feeling of open world.
But somehow a lobbyshooter style game is preferred.

They have known for MONTHS that open world as envisioned originally isnt possible.
Nothing gets communicated, same as now, its more by chance that Brent dropped it than a proper newsitem.
So either BHVR has no clue to go about communicating changes, or , even worse they dont understand what in fact are the most important aspects of their game.

Lemme tell you one thing though, I have worked for passionate people, and i have worked for bullshitters aswell.
The passionate people seldom tell you they are passionate because they are too busy getting shit done.
Whoever has the endsay in the course of EC is bullshitting us.

They can cut back critical features on which the game's succes depends on, but they cant postpone release= getting as much money in, panic a bit, see if we can keep floating long enough to actually deliver the said features.
I dont understand gaming but i do understand bussiness, and this is defensive withdrawel combined with damage control.

I think even the devs arent fully aware what is above their heads.
Trixie_I, Getzan and Galen like this.
  6. Oh yeah and check No Man`s Sky. Now the company Genicap says that they used a data named "Superformula" or a similar thing. They could go to court against NMS for that.

But on the rest. Yeah i kind of agree with you.
  7. In your suffering and outrage, you guys are missing one point: all those big reveals didn't come as an official announcement, rather it's just Brent talking a little bit too much than he probably should. I urge you to get a perspective: you think you're in pain and your hopes are crushed, but Brent will probably have to face ABSOLUTELY CALM Katie with Jasper air support one-on-one.
    Yeah.
So, let's just take a deep breath, calm down a little and state all together that we won't believe that Brent just "fell down from the stairs". Seriously. Game designers are one of nature's little miracles, let's preserve our today!
  8. Yeah they wont be happy about the storm Brent caused.
  9. Zhull Zhull Well-Known Member

    which would be nonsense.
they should be not happy about the direction their game is taking, after having put countless hours in it.
Brent might have dropped this by accident, its still royally late tfor us to learn about this.
The manner of how we found out is irrelevant.
The only thing that is relevant, for the Devs infinitely more than us, is that the launch looks pretty fucking bad.
We lose some money, those guys their income.
I'm glad Brent told this, on purpose or by accident, and its a shame that they didnt tell us as soon as it was clear they were going to do this.

  10. I really dont care about huge numbers of players in matches. Less is sometimes more.

The "Huge" matches in Battlefield 4 are terrible with so many players and vehicles crammed into such small areas. The "Huge" 32 v 32 maps on BF4 are only about 10% to 20% bigger than the "Small" 16 v 16 maps, but with twice the number of players and twice the number of vehicles. It's a total slaughter and the squad play that me and my friends on the 16 v 16 matches enjoyed is hardly even possible on the 32 v 32 maps because everybody dies so often.

What's worrisome is the fact that most of our current maps are smaller than even the "small" 16 v 16 maps in Battlefield 4, and we're going to cram more players into those small maps? Harkuss is about 1/4 the size of the largest "large" BF4 32 v 32 map, and we mostly fight in the fortress, which is only 50% of the map.

Cramming more players and more vehicles into tiny maps is NOT fun. Having the room to maneuver in more of an open world environment gives players more time and more room to create battles when and where players decide the battles occur, rather than being crammed into small meatgrinder "no brain no pain" type maps where squad based game play and maneuver warfare are impossible because on average you're getting killed once every 20 to 30 seconds of game play.
