Instant Death By Headshot ?

I agree with the opinion that it should depend on a weapon as well as the target. A Tac Marine takes a plasma hit to the head - he dies. But a Nob might survive 1 or 2 of those, but still dies from a single melta shot to the head.

Something like a charged plasmacanon should insta big. The off-shoot is that you're instantly targeted down. :) Think of the flamethrowers in Red Orchestra 2: Rising Storm. Very very powerful. Can wipe out entire teams in a burst. However, it's got a distinctive look about it (you can see the pack) and once the flamer starts going off, well... your rifle men and machinegunners know where to shoot!

As for something like a stalker-bolter, it would feel unsatisfying if you had to pump in too many shots. I guess it's something that will need to be tweaked in game.

To be honest I really don't understand how a flamer hurts a marine in power armor. Is it the liquid prometheum that gets spat all over them or what?

Head-shots should do more damage at the very least, perhaps with limbs other than the head taking less damage while the torso would be standard damage.

Lascannon to the face probably shouldn't need more than one or two, but they did say TTK would be longer.

  5. Melting the thinner bits of armour (joints) causing systems to overheat and short out. Flamer are meant to be really rather hot, there's only so much being cooked in a can that even a super human can take, you know.

  6. Nah, that always annoyed the hell out of me in Space Marine. It's a LASCANNON for crying out loud; it's built to punch holes in heavy tank armour, let alone a foot soldier. Even in systems like Only War and Black Crusade, where Marines and Chaos Marines are really rather powerful, lascannons are a sure-fire way to cause even them pause for thought with horrific damage outputs. You can't live long with a 4xfist sized hole burned straight through where your chest used to be...

dev also say no to instant death but yes for extra damage. The game aim to a slow time to kill less than borderland more than space marine.

The devs are looking for a game with a long TTK.

Having Instakill weakpoints on a character will break gameplay balance in a game with long ttks

One shot kills with standard weapons are a big no-no.
Heavy weapons that require precision should have a long enough cool down but enough kick. So as to make constantly seeking out one shot kills against grunts seem impractical, but effective against heavy troops and armor.
