It's 40 FPS that is bad for a shoot. You may be okay with this but I'm not a pc player to suffer through 40FPS in a videogame that's something for consolis.
See I have the opposite experience. I have an i-5 and a 970 but I get constant FPS drops. Like, it starts out ok, but randomly through the match it may drop 20 fps for apparently no reason. No idea why though, as I tested my connection and everything else. Probably just is how it is.
I have the same set up but I seem to get the reverse, my FPS normally tanks and freezes for like the 4 or 5 minutes after loading in randomly then stabilises afterwards. I played on xbox until recently so I'm ok with 40fps on medium but still it can be pretty hectic and random at times.
Well, it sucks for weapons that have higher damage, higher accuracy, lower fire-rate like my Bolter. That technical inconsistency royally screws aiming for weapons of that design. When my game is being solid, the Bolter is just as it is supposed to be. When the game does it's silly FPS drops, ping spikes, stutters, and general BS...my Bolter might as well be auto-aimed 2 feet to the left of everything I shoot at. I can't even spray and pray like with a Stormbolter or Shuriken style weapon, not that they are much better off.
No you don't, read the whole post. Having 60 fps when nothing happens is irrelevant, what matters is how fluid it is when there's some action. But hey, feel free to post a screenshot of you on a fortress map fighting people with 60 fps, I'm waiting. Some people just don't fully realize when the fps drop and its effects on the gameplay. It's just like ping. Back when the game displayed a ping of 40ms I kept saying it was a fake ping and it was closer to 200ms for EU players yet I kept seeing "I'm from EU and it's not laggy at all for me, I have a 40ms ping blabla" I can't explain why but some people are just oblivious to that sort of thing (maybe a lack of experience?) It's still very real though and in the end it does translate into a crappy feeling of poor gameplay(or being bad at the game) even if you're not fully aware of it.
Try turning as a Hawk, god the pits I've fallen into I like flying in games but I tend to stray from the skies in this game, always gets the drop on me at the worst possible times.
I still think Orks are the biggest offenders of FPS drops. Their sicky bombs, heal stations and SOMETHING with the WAAGGHH! effect graphics seem to trigger losses now and then.
From an and perspective I will have to say it's not optomised for them. That being said I have a fx8350 and an r390x card and I can get 40 fps constant for the most part with dips depending on map. I have also tweked the files to allow better performance but like most games now and isn't supported for the most part
