After playing again I can confirm that swooping hawks do not go down with "a couple shots from your pistol". I can unload nearly half a boltgun magazine, hit markers and all, into flying hawks and they will just fly away...UNLESS OF COURSE they are using the Hunter's Mark weapon, which melts my face off in about a second and a half.
It's obvious Nether is talking out of his/her ass. Either hes not playing the game or he's intentionally spreading blatantly false information about the current state of the game.
That would be great, if they actually had a noticeable reduction in overall toughness. Currently they do not, and i've now seen multiple matches with some swooping hawks never actually dying because they are still tough enough it takes concentrated fire to actually bring them down. Concentrating fire on a target is hard when they can fly away immediately OR use a certain weapon to melt your face off before you can react.
The fact that they are moving faster than you can physically track them on screen with the human eye.. much less being able to aim at them and shoot them. I'd say that's a fairly significant problem.
Well their toughness might be worth discussing but changing a Swooping Hawk to a JPA ruins everything that the Aspect Warrior is.
I wasn't the one who said turn SH into JPA clones, that was someone else. My original question was answered earlier; SH are indeed supposed to remain airborne indefinitely. The problem I see now is they can stay airborne, zipping around the battlefield like cone headed pixies AND are difficult to ground, require roughly as many bolter rounds to kill as a power armored marine(assuming you hit them with every shot) while also possessing a weapon(Hunter's Mark) that annihilates infantry almost instantly and seems to be effective at any range.
Update: THIS FUCKING THING RIGHT HERE. WHO THE FUCK THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO GIVE ANYONE A GUN THAT DOES 86 DAMAGE PER SHOT WHEN THE HIGHEST BASE HEALTH IS 250?!
Swooping Hawks can aim down the sights of their gun (just like everyone can do), and if they do it in midair they slow down tremendously. This includes their falling speed, which is already low on account of the fact that they glide This (supposedly) leaves them vulnerable, since they're basically standing still and firing tracer rounds
The problem is not them shooting while hovering in flight, the problem is their teleporting, instant get out of jail free card vs Melee, the power of that gun that fires full auto, their ground dash is 3x further that Jump Troop dash, their travel mode while in flight is insane and way too fast. Combine all of the above with : -10 stun grenades -Smaller hitbox(than Orks or Astartes) -Faster turning -quicker vaulting -quicker climbing -Faster running -Faster animations for Dbash and Melee attacks, -longer range evade/dash/lunge attack than Ork and Astartes Jump Troops -Same 100 base armor as Orks and Astartes -Same 200 base Health as Orks or Astartes You don't have to work at the Jet Propulsion Labratory to see how immensely overpowered all of those advantages, combined into a single class, are in game.
Orks have 250 hp now, but still. All factions have issues dealing with eldar after these magical weapons sprang up out of no where. I don't mind eldar being able to move faster and having smaller hitboxes, but they need to sacrifice something for it which it isn't apparent. They're like high speed glasscannons without the glass part. I think their melee being faster than the other races also probably plays havoc with the network and code causing all the inconsistancy with melee attacks against them.
