So I've spent some time getting horrifically murdered several hundred times. Which I'm okay with, I understand there's some founders who are more skilled in the game and are going to kick my butt a lot for a while. Even still it seems like i die within a few shots or maybe 2-3 sword swipes and it makes the game feel more like a frantic Call of duty type of game and less of a tactical war front that would be a bit slower paced. I think if everyone's health was doubled or even tripled the game would become much more tactical, create longer shoot outs, and overall would be more enjoyable. What do you guys think?
Longer TTK results in higher frustration I think Cause you have much more time to get somewhere safe and wait for the armor recovery while someone shoot like 40 shots into you for nothing
Here's a recent thread about wanting to increase TTK, (which i'm assuming means Time To Kill.) There's mixed feelings about increasing the TTK but I think there is enough of an argument to at least try it for a couple of weeks to see how it would work out. I personally feel its not health that should be raised but the armour value that should be raised. Doesnt feel like we are wearing power armour
Yeah, I really think the TTK is actually pretty good. If you triple the health of units, it would just turn into a rush fest. No one would be scared to just blindly run to the objective, weathering any storm of fire from entrenched positions. In the fluff, marines die all the time from a well placed single shot. Just gotta get used to the fact that it would be too game breaking to have everyone soak too much damage (the mark of nurgle and storm shield are already skirting this exact issue.)
HP needs to be decreased while Armor is significantly raised. Weapon damage(at least for the Bolter) needs to be raised but have its firing rate decreased so it has a longer TTK. Other weapons should be adjusted according to the Bolter changes, including melee weapons that would take more than 2 or 3 Basic Attacks. The slower firing rate of weapons gives players more time between shots to react so even if the TTK is not increased significantly players should survive more often. Exactly. Armor should be the primary defensive factor that players tank shots with. HP should be lower but possess limited out-of-combat regen. Because weapons like the Plasma Gun/Power Sword should be able to deal a percentage of damage through Armor to HP it would still be important to heal before going into combat if missing any HP your ooc regen couldn't take care of. Additionally, having an Apo/Sorc apply/sustain a heal on you as you try to advance through fire from weapons like PGs would increase your survivability, making them a force multiplier for your side.
I haven't played many shooters, granted, but EC has rather short TTK compared to what I'm used to. Bear in mind also that it is much harder to hit enemies in Tribes since there are practically no hitscan weapons, and everyone has a jump pack and can move quite fast. In any case, I'd be happy with merely increasing armor. Since we move so slowly this would allow us to dive into nearby cover more effectively. Regarding the realism of increased armor/health, the HP/shield system is an abstraction anyway. Anyone can be killed by one shot, but people can also survive an incredible number of shots depending on where they hit. So the fact that 1-2 shots can kill does not mean that they should.

These guys never played Planetside 2 clearly. Or battlefield, or call of duty, or just about any other shooter with high TTK and quick knifing. Players NEED more health/armour in this game or perks that grant them more defensive options because as is nobody has enough time to react to anything. You get shot from across the map by a bolter and your shields are already down. What in the actual f*ck? But every fan boy here in this game wants to have their e-peen moment where they go "look at how i got the top score with the current FoTM cheese grater build!" so they will want to encourage the devs to keep it as is. Which of course is a terrible idea in the long run (just look at Planetside 2) because it gets monotonous spawning and dying constantly with little effect achieved. Spending half the match looking at the death screen is not fun. I've just started sitting back with the raven bolter and plasma cannon because its much more rewarding than getting blown up by nade spam, 1-2 swords, 2-3 shot bolter fire, ridiculous OP Predator main gun, etc. There's so much shit that can kill you so fast that half the battle is watching people crawl around on the ground looking for help to get up or crawl to safety. People go down WAY too fast and there's no actual "gritty combat" feel to the game at all. Just another CoD knock off with Space Marine skin and UI overlay.
