Been on both sides of the fence, the one leading and the one being led. Honestly as im growing older and older, im distancing myself from both, primarily from leading. I like to enter a game and work with others, but in more of a non-committed way. Less stress, less trouble, and you can leave when you need to without needing to apologize to everyone for your departure (still raid with friends in GW2 RvR though). I probably will join up into some Nurgle guild if it pops up eventually and maybe even lead some squad in it or something, but until then ill probably be the guy who follows the masses and grunting it up all day erry day.
Back in the old Age of Reckoning days I used to lead a lot of the warbands, and we generally did pretty well under my command. So I'm used to command and I get a kick out of it. I picked sergeant cuz I like to fight and I don't think I could deal with sitting around a command table handing out orders for longer than an hour. But I also like to be in charge, that way if we fail I know it was on me.
I'd like some responsibility, but not too much since I just don't have the time nowadays. So I think Sergeant is a nice middle of the road solution
I have lead squads for awhile and seem to be ok at it, so I often find myself put in that position. I rarely find myself in a higher position then that though.
thats ok lone wolves dont expect support lol but seriously, there will always be lone wolves in games, there will be casual players who act like lone wolves, there will be players whos language/timeslot/playstyle makes them as good as a lone wolf, you can encourage team play, you can reward team play, but you cant enforce team play, love us or hate us but either way EC's going to have to learn to deal with us,
Grunt, I've played so many single player games that being the 'super important hero of the universe' has long since lost it's appeal. I just wanna be a hapless pawn for once.
I'm the SM equivalent of a Lance-Corporal/Corporal, I work well with others but am occasionally in charge of small groups/Combat squads. I'm the guy who if he spots an enemy in ambush will call out a warning, even if it kills me.
