The Colonel replied. “Good to see your not dead, Sergeant I need your squad to investigate your quadrant again but be thorough we can’t miss anything. The Auspex has been having a hard time getting through your particular area. Get moving then pack your gear and return to Base Colonel Goodwin out .” Then the vox cut like the Colonel usually has done. The outpost camp that you have set up 25 miles away from Company base. But something that has that rarely happened their was a light drizzle which meant there was going to be a large storm is a brewing. Over Maximum Security Alert Vox traffic. " Code Xenos Yellow I repeat Code Xeno Yellow On military priority all channels. Brant sighed a note of annoyance as he heard the General over the vox, clearly it wasn't an experienced senior officer if he was willing to break chain of command to give a general order. Also broadcasting a yellow alert on all channels was an extreme overreaction from Segmentum command to what was probably a small Eldar raid on one hive city, this campaign was going to be interesting Anthony thought to himself. One thing both the general and Colonels orders had in common though is that both had requested a return to base, so therefore it seemed their stay out in the wilderness had come to an end. 'Orders received Colonel, sending out a patrol to begin new area sweep.' Placing the receiver back down with the vox equipment he looked at the collection of guardsmen in the room, though there had been a major lack of conflict in this area the whole squad looked like it had just come back from the frontlines. Everyone looked soaked through, exhausted or both, hardly a sight of discipline for the errant Commissar but the squad had been assigned to the middle of nowhere in a tent surrounded by the mud and the rain. Seeing one of his corporals laying on a cot nearby and most of his squad sitting on their own cots without much to do he started issuing orders. 'Corporal Gottzmann @Keidivh wake up and take private Gasch @bossaroo along with Corporal Mienolf @TechCaptain if you can find him and do another sweep of the surrounding area one more time, Command needs reassuring that there is absolutely nothing here. Nokai, Anya @Vanestus and Stelt @TuskatheDaemonKilla you three remain here, begin taking down this tent and prepare to bug out, I want everything covered against this rain and prepared for transport. Make sure you all do a quick job of it and do it well, I would not trust this weather we've been having.' Technically that only left the Commissar @High_Adept_Zeth without orders, but Brant lacked the authority to direct him so therefore he did not task the man with any purpose, all Anthony could offer was a quick glance as he went back outside into the rain. It would be up to the Commissar on what he wanted to do in this backwater end of the regiment.
@Keidivh Robert laughed at the woman's hollow threat. "My brothers back on Necromunda would have liked you." He said still laughing. She will know pain the next time he operated on her he was sure of that now. It will cleanse her of this arrogance while her body is made ready to face the enemies of man once more. The Sergeant then received the orders from command so he directed his attention over to him. @Vanestus @Donairian Once his next duty was made clear Robert nodded to the sergeant and got up and went over to his footlocker to grab his belongings. First his robes which also worked as a fairly effective rain coat along with the standard issue flak armor. Then the scabbard for his blade and his Las pistol with it's holster which he attached to his belt along with the scabbard on the opposite side. He grabbed his curved blade and slid it into it's scabbard carefully and looked to the other squad members assigned to packing up their tent. "Well come on our works might not be the most glamorous but they are in the name of the Emperor." He said as he began preparing everything in the tent to be moved outside into the constant down pour.
Trooper Valens stood and saluted when the seargeant entered and nodded as he took his orders. The man continued to chew on his dog tags as he quickly put on his equipment. He checked his lasgun with shaking hands as he removed the power pack and looked at the firing prism. He drew a wash clothe from his gear ad quickly cleaned the prism before clicking back on the housing for the firing prism and plugging the power pack back in. He strapped on his helmet and surveyed the room with quick eyes , his glance darting around the room "glad no bugs are out" the man muttered around the dog tag in his mouth. He pulled out his knife and started practicing with it before pausing @Donairian "S-Sir ? Who'll you be with ? Just asking is all" the man wrought his hands barely reacting when he nicked the back of his hand with the knife drawing blood. He stood near the exit and entrance to the tent awaiting the corporal Muttering about knife ears
@TuskatheDaemonKilla Irmina didn't dignify the medical sadist with a response, instead letting a particular finger say all that needed to be said. She had never really gotten along with Rob, but he had become particularly annoying as of late. Perhaps he didn't realize how bad an idea it was to antagonize a professional killer. He'd find out soon enough I he tried to pull anything. @Donairian @bossaroo @TechCaptain But there would be time for that later, seems like they had a mission. "Bout bloody time." The huntress muttered to herself as put her camp cloak back on, rearming with surprising speed and efficiency and in less than a minute joined her fellow trooper, giving him a friendly slap on the back, "Ah don't worry Vale, I'll make sure none of the big bad space elves get ya." She laughed lightly before snapping off a crisp salute to their sergeant, "Don't worry boss, we're on it. Nothing will get near this perimeter without a new hole in the head. That said the corporal pulled up her hood and headed out into the damp jungle, expecting Vale to tag along. "Hey Luther, orders finally came in. Form up for a sweep of the perimeter. Sooner we get outta this mud pit the better."
As the orders came in, Commissar watched with methodic diligence as the squad went on their way and how their Sergeant organized them. After Sergeant Brant walked outside, Commissar remained for a few minutes watching as the three remaining Guardsmen worked to pack up their camp.Sure...they were a crude bunch with some methods out of the norm...some of them might be in need of some minor disciplinary action, but considering the circumstances a degree of leeway should be employed. Following the Sergeant`s example, he went outside into the rain, and observed as the other squads did similar things in a general retreat to the nearest HQ.Everyone was on edge and short nervous glances as tought leather-boots of the Commissar stomped pass them, but discipline held. Maximilien`s face was eteched in stoic resolution and his hawk`s eyes watched over all, or at least he gave such impression. But to be truthful, in a moment of fancy he wondered what went thought Sergeant`s Brant`s mind.To have a Commissar attached to a 6-man squad.A squad of veterans but still of no great renown in a regiment like this. Commissar winced and almost smiled at the thought of confusion he might spread, but he had his own orders. Spotting Sergeant in the same place he left him, outside his squad`s tent that didn't seem like much, considering it was being dismantled, Commissar approached, lighting up a lho-stick. "A word Sergeant Brant." spoke Commissar in a raspy voice as he coughed up first smoke.Sergeant looked somewhat younger then him...maybe a few years then himself. Standing next to him, and watching down the jungle where two Guardsmen went in he spoke, careful enough to be out of earshot of the others. His voice usually carried the tone of authority that never went away.I guess that is something you learn in the Schola, but it was somewhat softer when speaking to the Sergeant this time: "Look Sergeant I am not here to be stop you in what you are doing or to correct you at every decision you make. Its never easy to command and always have someone standing at your back, looking what you do." spoke Commissar between puffs of smoke that were almost strong enough to drown down the bountiful aroma that was spreading from the jungle. "Just consider me as a form of a backup that is here temporarily. With that said...I don't want you to slacken of.You may have me in your squad...but I still have my orders.Any questions Sergeant?"he asked with little interest as he puffed another gust of smoke. @Donairian
'Stow it Valens @bossaroo , command issued an amber alert warning to keep a lookout for any Eldar attacking our patrols. If they are anywhere near here then we need to keep watch to stop that from happening which is what I intend to do.' With that Brant exited the tent back into the rain, he returned to where he was first standing outside of the tent and watched the surrounding trees for anything out of the ordinary. He was certain that the squad was out of the way enough to not warrant the attention of the Xenos, but you could never be certain when it comes to these insidious and for that matter arrogant Eldar. He kept a hand on the hilt of his chainsword still in its scabbard while he drank again from his canteen, as he finished he was in time to see that the Commissar @High_Adept_Zeth had followed him out of the tent. While he listened to Maximilien his attention did not shift from watching his surroundings, when the Commissar had finished he turned his head towards the Prefectus officer and responded. 'You worry about what you are here to do and I will worry about what I am doing here Commissar Maximilien. We have a 25 mile trek through the rain and the mud to make on foot once we finish packing up, also if this weather gets any worse we could be in for a storm while we are at it. With the Lord general posting an amber alert to the entire Imperial army present on this planet we may also have to be on the lookout for potential Eldar ambushes on our way as well. If you want to take orders, then I say you assist the Corporals in sweeping the area, the pair of them have good eyes but another set may be able to pick out something they might miss.' With that Brant returned his attention to his self assigned watch duty and took another drink of his canteen.
The rain was still calm. The search was the exact same as it was but both of you heard something run across the jungle for a brief moment a blur of green that matched the jungle must be one of that large cat-like beasts that even a former Catachan couldn’t deal with kinda glad that it did not pounce on you. Same like the last 46 times you have done this nothing other than a random bug or beast coming by. The quadrant was clear again time to come back and help pack up. At the base most of the backing was almost complete most of the gear put back onto the scout carry sentinel. The squads private that could drive it was in the seat ready to head out. “Want me to get the gear out of here before the storms starts Sergeant?” He was always that kinda guy that liked driving and getting out as quick as possible anxious as always but has never seen a day in combat in his life that may be his undoing. @Vanestus Last box time to got everything locked down. @High_Adept_Zeth The vox operator puts the the Vox on his back then falls face first forgetting the weight of the Vox relay. There is a transmission at maximum volume and static. “.Code.. xen…" *Cuts off* As he stands a high pitched noise comes across all your squad vox earbud and he looks at the Commissar in fear. @Donairian The scouts return just in time bug out now something bad is going on and and see what kind of level it is cause they skipped yellow to red this could be a full invasion... Then the rain starts coming in blankets the trees are not helping. The Sentinel leaves without order back to base so he does not get in more trouble with the Departmento Munitorm but what is worse going without orders or being executed for losing a lot of valuable equipment. Time to leave the earth shook then followed by the boom of artillery time to hall ass. You guys are a full 10+1 squad the +1 being the Commissar)
Corporal Mienolf looks around through his scope prepared for an attack as he finds cover. " Everyone get in cover."
Valens walked into the camp one of his dogtags clenched tightly in his teeth ad his poor weather gear serving to keep him mostly dry. He turned at any sound he heard his knuckles white on the lasgun, the young man's eyes wide with paranoia and fear after the creature had bounded by the patrol earlier. He heard the corporal and nodded heading towards cover from the rain. Valens ears were straining to hear any sign of foes and his eyes wide open as he surveyed the bug out zone.
