@Shadhunter Not wanting to go back into the forest with out an organized group Ferdinand decided to ignore the dog and walked over to where he could see the woman knight trying to see of any of the volunteers could use her weapon. He sat down on the ground and took off his helmet and placed it next to him. "If I may suggest ma'am it's a lot easier to train someone how to swing an axe than use a sword properly. This town survives off lumber right? They should have plenty of axes lying around." He called out to Shalia from his seated position. He hoped she hadn't held onto their disagreement from earlier otherwise this will be much more unpleasant than it should be.
"Since you look like the most capable of the group, you shall be in charge of them," Noburo told the girl with the sword. He was unaware if there would be any issues with this because in Qyris, women had equal place in the army like men and although they couldn't become samurai, there were other professions where female touch was better suited, for instance when training to be kunoichis. "I do not think we should give them any more weapons than those they already know how to use or those which we can teach them to use without much problem," the Kensei told both Shaila and Victor while calling after the blacksmith. "Make us a set of spears, we shall give them that and any sidearms or bows which we can find." Turning back towards the group of villagers he continued, "I shall teach you sojutsu, or spear-fighting in your language. It is a simple enough weapon to use and it shall help you in case the enemy comes. But before we start remember, it doesn't matter if you know or do not know how to fight. The only thing that matters is for you to remember who are you fighting for. People in this village count on you to protect them, your families count on you to save them and know that when we are gone, everything you learned today from us will stay with you forever and if you focus on listening to us, the knowledge you learn today will help you make this village safe in the years to come."
The Ferret felt a shiver go down his spine (he was a spine, anyway) at hearing the noises, slowing himself down to a crawl. A ferret crawl, at that; he'd hid himself under the minecart and... Well. He waited, and looked about. Trying to pinpoint where any noises came from. Hopefully, he'd be able to find whatever's making the damned noise - or what direction it's coming from... Though he was at the same time, trying to focus on the 'voice'; what kind of person was it? Man? Woman? Child? Puppy?? He hoped it was a puppy.
Asher seemed to cut off at the sight of the brawling, ignoring most around him in an odd manner. Only to shoot back when Victor speaks up again, he shook his head for a moment and blinked, focusing on Victor for a moment before offering him a silent nod. Grabbing his axe, Asher hopped off the carriage and onto the soaked mud once again. "Yes, of course. It would be a good opportunity to show my worth to the team."
@Colapse @TuskatheDaemonKilla @Shadhunter @ItsTime "Aye, I'll get on it. We'll see about the bows. Spears definately." The blacksmith said and took Ollie with him to look for a proper place to begin working. Victor agreed with Ferdinand. He put a hand on Asher's shoulder. "Perhaps Sir Ferdinand and Asher here could give a few pointers in how to wield one effectively." "Asta? She can barely lift a log!" One man protested after Noburo declared the woman leader. She bristled and her hands clenched into fists. In a gesture of defiance, Asta walked over to Shaila and grabbed the claymore from her hands. Admittedly it seemed a little too heavy for her but still she held it in a proper way. "I am more of a man than all of you put together!" The men looked at each other, then back at Asta, then they all burst into laughter.
"Silence, all of you," the Kensei growled, not nearly entertained by their foolish jests. "You," he pointed at the woman and then at one of the villagers, the one who protested just seconds ago. "If you are so tough, go and try to take that sword away from her." He didn't care that the other villager didn't have any weapon, in his mind he should've thought about that earlier. As if to further press his point, Noburo pulled his nodachi out of the scabbard and placed it on his shoulder, giving the man a cold stare that meant there was no backing out of this.
Benjamin's hiding was a bit dreadful, listening to that whimpering and nothing else. Then, there was the disgusting squelching sound that was accompanied by skittering. Something heavy dropped down from the ceiling with a thump, scattering dust around the room. From the sound of it moving, it had more legs than two. The whimpering had stopped as well. Whatever had dropped down from the ceiling now moved around the room. Benjamin managed to place it's position by sound, it sounded like it was heading away from him. He could also hear faint footsteps heading toward him. In the darkness he could just make out little feet moving about, no doubt belonging to a child. This figure stopped to hide behind the mine cart with Benjamin still hidden from all. Now the silence was maddening. He could not see or hear the thing anymore and neither did the child make any noise. She just shivered silently by the mine cart.
Asher reached up to rub his chin at the question, "There is not much mastery to a spear, it all comes with experience. I can however tell you that you must be wary of your opponent, if he grabs your spear or swats it away to close the distance, you're as good as dead. Keep him at bay and out of your dead-zone." "As for bows, these are far more trickey, usually professional armies and companies equip their peasantry with crossbows thanks to their ease of use while bows require some practice to use properly." Asher turns to Victor. "In truth, the peasants are fodder for us. We most certainly do most of the killing on the field granted we aren't cut down immediately."
Shaila nodded at Asta before she stepped next to her so she could speak quietly to her. "If you can't wield the blade properly, then don't. Proving a point isn't worth your life. But if you think you can, you're welcome to it."
Elisa found the feeling of moving while invisible unusual, but it wasn't exactly as if it was her first time moving in such a state (her first time when she was testing out the ritual ended up with her falling down flat onto her face after trying to run without the benefit of seeing where her legs were, not that she'd ever admit to such an embarrassing failure...) Having saved Cyntheria from falling down into the pit, the Mage said (@BloodySoulStealer ) "Careful now, I'd like to keep you alive as we make our way into the mine, and not falling down every nook and cranny. Anyways, let's keep moving." With that said, she headed deeper into the mines, heading in the other direction to the pit that nearly claimed Cyntheria.
