Has the decision about display of player names and guild tags over players heads been decided? I brought it up a long time ago and bring it up again because it's so crucial to engaging PVP. ESO is the latest example where its very hard to ID a player from the crowd. The good and bad ones you want to remember. Friends of mine from previous MMO's the had this mechanic still talk about specific allies and foes. A great way to kill the game is to take the individualism out of it. Let players build their own reputations and allow them to see who they are up against on the battlefield.
floating names above everyone? no thanks that would be annoying maybe if you aim at someone it could show his name but I would like the option to turn it off
No floating Names please, it may be usefull in some RPG Mmos. But not in an shooter. I guess, it will be like Savij said, maybe we will see the names when we aim at the Chars. In game we might get the option to choose from titels
If there was an option to toggle "floating names" on and off, then I'd be fine with that. Since we all know, we can't have more clutter in a massive battle.
I enjoyed Planetside's (the original) method of letting you see the name of someone who was close up in your face, if you moused over them, or allowing it to always be toggled on (if you could see them). So I for example would always have friendly names on in close proximity but only enemy names while moused-over. Edit: But isn't this for the UI sub-forum?
