Just an idea that came about from Discord. Two ideas to buff the Ork Medic. 1. Combine sicky bombs and dok bombs. They make enemies sick and heal boys. Limit their duration, but keep the sicky graphics as it's a good indicator. 2. Make Ork Painboyz melee attacks apply the heal. Make it stun the boy being healed briefly to stop people abusing it in combat.
combining stick/doc bombs would be a bit OP, would make taking points really easy when all your team mates are getting healed while the enemy is at the same time being poisoned. I do like the idea of healing by punching one of the boyz in the face, seems a very orky thing to do. Another way they could balance it out is by just having the punch add a heal over time effect, not the burst heal, so it wouldn't save someone getting beat on but would work fine on someone out of combat.
They could just remove the activation time for healing others but add a short delay before you can heal a target again. So you'd tap your consumable key to instantly heal another target, hold the key to self-heal (it'd charge as normal). If this is an issue, the instant heal bit at the push of a button, then they can just change it to a fairly rapid regeneration rather than the health coming back all at once. They could even look at making it like Killing Floor, where you fire syringes at range. Either way, it is pretty annoying to use, that's for sure.
I'd love more options for hitting buffs into my boyz. I was happy when I first found out that punching a boy cancels him out of the stand up animation from a wounded heal. At the very least, I'd like if the injection to give the regen buff was faster when you inject a fully healthy boy, so that people don't run away as often.
Would it though, the dok bombs die sooo easy. Most of the times it even gets killed by a git doing a random attack. Not to talk about an assault jumping in the middle of the boyz or a random plasma hit a mile away. The bombs are just bad, both of them. Even the apothecary beacon is bad and that is a little harder to kill(at least it doesn die from melee attacks in 1mile radius). I say its bad not comparing to other tools in the apoth and painboy quiver but compared to what eldar and sorcs can do. No amount of tweaking would make Ork and LSM supports be on par with the CSM and Eldar, only a major mechanics change could.
+1 to punch healing ahaha, I would recommend changing the Sicky slugga to doing 0 physical damage instead of 22 but a faster stack of poison, while healing boys you shoot for lets say 15 per shot. Some awesome new needle-firing animations and sounds and it would take "shooting into melee" to a whole new level.
The problem with doks is retarded animation. You cant quickly heal friendly becouse they are busy killing things. Sorcs and warlock don't have this problem. I mean did you ever tried to heal anyone without doc bomb? It just so frustrating!
Healing pistol (Crossbow from TF2's medic comes to my mind; switching firemode from healing to poisoning)...best options since punch healing. Both things sound really nice.
