While NPC allies are quite unlikely, they actually do have at least plans for NPCs. The PvPvPvPvE Gamemode is still planned and would include Tyranids as their own faction.
Tbh I think the easiest thing for them to do is introduce spawn bots which basically count as static spawn defence for the main un capable spawn points.
