Hi all! I'm not sure if this has been discussed previously so apologies if it has. Warhammer 40k has tons of sub factions i.e for the Imperium we have the imperial guard, adeptus mechanicus etc etc. We know that the dev's are considering placed NPC's at captured strongholds and having some NPC's in various locations. I thought it would be a good idea to have these NPC's be the sub factions that we cannot play, so at least you get to see them and it feels even more immersive. Thoughts? absolutely, I'd be miffed to no end if the IG/chaos cultists/grots didn't hold down the fort at home while we were gaining glory on the field of battle, and when I turn in my earned requisition for a shinier breastplate or an assault jump pack of +2 fuel recharge I fully expect a mechanicum adept to take my damn order. I dearly hope that's a given.
I want there to be a single Squat in the game hidden deep in an area of Tyranid infestation, when you find him he says "Of course all the squats ain't extinct I'm right here" and then a Lictor kills him.
No. While we don't have those factions at the start of this, it's been said many times that an end-goal is to have everything that exists in 40k in EC. And yes, it's been discussed *a lot*, though mostly down in the gameplay forum.
The way I see it, there has to be NPC's in a game like this. Guards, vendors for requisitioned equipment, repair bays for vehicles, etc. Having NPC minions to shred is a plus. The thing about the worlds in 40k is that they are usually heavilly populated and incredibly diverse. I'm hoping in addition to the Tyranid Tunnels, they include plague zombie invasions and minor uprisings here and there. A game of the scale of 40k can't simply be player driven alone. Also, what if the player population is just down one day? I'd still like to play - gimme hordes of low leveled minions to rip and tear.
