"Sorry about that." She said as she got up she began looking at the door infront of them she first tested to see if it was hot. Then began wondering if it was a good idea to open it. She then looked for a emergency hatch with Andros. "Up may have those black storm troopers coming after us again. Think they are from that inqusitor?" She asked as she searched.
He shrugged his shoulders and winced in pain. "With the way this day has been going I wouldn't doubt it!"
Before Straf lay a crumpled blast-door, its surface pitted with multiple dents from the amount of debris which had come loose from the ceiling to lie around it. The most notable feature being the massive rebar which had wedged itself at an odd angle in the gear section controlling the doors vertical movements which caused it to break out from its original alignment. Beyond, voices could be heard arguing about something or someone followed by a loud impact which sounded like as if a transport had tried to mate with the side of the building through blunt force. Despite the amount of rubble and debris blocking the way, it would be relatively easy to squeeze through but by the looks of how the rebar was constantly groaning, there was no way of telling if it would collapse at any moment burying anyone foolish enough to be attempting access at this time. Faced with an impasse as to circle back or attempt to maneuver through with as much agility as possible would determine the amount of time needed to escape this section and if the lack of oxygen was anything to judge by, the fires would soon be on him. ____________________________________________________________ Despite the extremely rough landing of the freight elevator, its frame was more or less intact despite having come loose at a slight angle from the rails which would have guided its movement. Since they were as close as they could get to the bottom, there was no worry about another sudden pit fall into an unknown abyss but they were also a sitting duck. Above them, soft impacts were heard as several objects landed on top of the metal followed by a very faint but slowly rising in volume whizzing sound which was alarmingly similar to the same sound their entrance to the structures roof had made on the rappel lines . . . oh shit . . . that meant the troopers were following them down and would be on them in moments. On either side of the door were emergency pressurized bolts which would cause the door to explode outwards however with the elevator mis-aligned, there was no way of telling if the door would even go anywhere since they had no way of knowing if it was even facing the exit. Looking at the blinking surface of the elevators panel, it showed they had gone beyond the listed levels of the facility and most likely in some classified storage or training area. What would await them beyond the doors was yet to be seen, but above them was a most definitely pissed off squad of Imperial Marines.
Seeing they had no other options Andros reached for the emergency bolts. He crossed his fingers as he engaged the bolt.
BEWM BEWM, you killed yourself Detonating outwards with enough force to shake the entire foundation of the massive metal box of doom, they were rewarded with half an exit. Apparently the shaft was supposed to be cylindrical and so was the exit but their descent had misaligned the mating dock in addition to pushing them away from the exit. With the doors explosive entrance though, the other blast-door had crumpled inwards leaving just enough room for one person to move in at a time into a overly illuminated corridor that would look more at rest in a surgical ward than in a training Academy. Along the corridor were several tinted viewing windows which hid several things unknown from direct view before leading to a pair of closed doors at the end roughly twenty meters away. All they had to do now was squeeze through the opening and make it to the room to barricade themselves in and hope there was an exit.
Grabbing his chest he mentally prepared himself for clearing the gap. "Well it's now or never Valpine." He nodded to her before clearing the gap. He landed in the hallway with a sickening crunch. He rolled over onto his side groaning from the impact. Slowly getting up he looked back to the elevator shaft before heading down the hallway to the doors that felt like a mile away.
Knowing he wasn't the most agile, Straf instead kicked the rebar and began looking for a way to circle back around. Though the flames were nearly on him, he rather face an improbable chance of survival over a possible very quick death at the hands of a malfunctioning door.
Valpine followed through the elevator door squeezing threw almost barley. She cursed that her helmet was half destroyed but thanked that it could still take a few its As she made her way it threw herself threw the opening making it through barley. She got up as she did and began looking threw the hall. "Looks like we have almost no where to go but forward." she said as she wen't forward. Even helping straf if he needed to.
Squeezing himself through the small space provided by the crumbling masonry, Straf was able to slowly wiggle himself through the debris at a snails pace. Half way through, the sound of more rubble shifting could be hear before a large chunk of the ceiling collapsed blocking him in as his waist became trapped between two large piece of rubble in which he was unable to shift from his current position. For now, there was nothing to do but wait and hope someone would happen across his position with enough mercy to help him out. While being pinned between a rock and a hard place wasn't exactly painful, is was far from being anywhere close to comfortable. ________________________________________ Heavy boots pounded behind them just as they got cleared followed by an augmented voice shouting orders. Sparks began to fly from the elevators ceiling as a fusion cutter was put to work to slice an opening through. Looks like time was running out for the two of them before the first trooper would be through the breach. Before them, lying like the salvation of the Senate stood a pair of open doors from which lazy streams of mist oozed out from as they curled slowly over themselves in the air. The atmosphere itself was becoming colder with each step they took and small blossoms of ice crystals soon began to make themselves known on the walls and glass as the temperature dropped the closer they got to the end of the corridor. Looks like whatever was ahead must of been some type of cryogenic lab as the sterile surroundings continued to remain despite the distance even if it appeared no one had set foot within these halls for weeks or months. Hopefully the doors would still close and not be frozen in place by the extreme temperature even as their limbs began to weigh down heavily as the cold penetrated their flesh to numb their flesh and bones.
Reaching the relative safety of the cryo chamber, Andros attempted to close the door one Valpine entered. If they hoped to survive they would need to find a way out of here. But first they needed a way to keep warm! Andros began looking for anything they could use as layers to stay warm as well as a way to shut off the cryo leak.
