Imperialis Vindictus Revival

Discussion in 'Role Playing' started by CommissarGaunt, Dec 6, 2015.

  1. Update: 12/22/2015
    • ETA to RP Launch: 01/10/2016
    • ETA to Manifest Completion: 12/31/2015 or 01/03/2016
    • Before starting I will post a short story (15-30 pages in length) highlighting the events that will lead to the first instance.
    • If you have submitted a character recently I DO NOT HAVE IT because for whatever reason it keeps showing me that people are sending me the template I listed below unmodified.
The timeline for the start is around 60 years after the Battle of Endor, I recognize both timelines as being acceptable so you can pick and choose what you want to believe since Disney decided to drop a WMD in the lore line. If you want to make your character an extremist for any one side, note that you WILL BE working with members of all factions so try and make it reasonably tolerant. You don't have to love everyone but if you decide to be a Nazi it will end very badly for you very quickly.

For starters, think of this roleplay as a combination of something like a Rouge Trader type RP. Both Imperial and Rebellion factions/progression trees are open but overall players are still aligned with their original choice. For instance a person could be an ex-Imperial Army Guardsman or a Stormtrooper that went rouge but they still harbor those prejudices against the Rebellion. Players will be forced to work with internal division and schemes while trying to work together to stabilize the region.

Missions and events are by popular vote as the overall player group will be a collection of a mercenary-esque shadow faction whose goals are yet to be known. You will encounter warring Imperial factions as Govenors try to slice parts of the Empire for themselves. Mercenaries are a plenty as they strip the planets torn apart by the long war to enrich themselves. The Rebellion have outposts and some outlying military forces that may act out depending on how you shape and interact the universe which will continue to expand.

I will leave it open to new joinings once it starts for every first week of the month and it will have some stat based mechanics. I've realized that if I don't firmly oversee combat and certain actions that people tend to godmod their characters without the expectation of it being a cruel world. This won't be an attempt to cause players deaths which may happen but more to encourage skill diversity and team work. When I finish the manifest more things will become more clear.

By the end of the week/beginning of the weekend I expect to have enough of the Manifest finished to allow people to start forming characters. I am continuing to research races and factions so that there is much diversity. If you feel there is too much we can all take a vote on those who want to participate to narrow it done or in the case that everyone wants to only do one faction, lock it like it was in Imperialis Vindictus.

I will keep the title of Imperialis Vindictus though this does not mean this is an Imperial roleplay.

A question to ask is: Would you all like an introduction prologue short story like I had for A Twisting Affair?

    Placeholder for Manifest:
(THERE'S NOT ENOUGH HERE TO SHOWCASE YET!!!!I'M WORKING ON IT!!!!)

Placeholder for Player Character Sheets and List:
    (SAME AS ABOVE!)

    Placeholder for "The Celestial Enterprise"
    (SPOILER PROOF ZONE!)

Placeholder for "Prologue: Rebuilding the Empire"

    Q & A Zone:
Q: Can I submit a character before the manifest is posted?
A: Yes but note that you are free to change anything about it BEFORE the RP starts next month. If you have attempted to submit a character and I have not responded back in a PM then I have not received it for what ever reason.

Q: You mentioned stat based, does this mean it has an RNG mechanic or is based off another tabletop form?
A: Yes and No. While I will be using a random dice roller, I will also balance it with common sense and reasoning so that it avoids being unfair for the players. This system is a place holder to see how the players react and if it seems people are willing to be more experimental and not attempt to always having everything go perfect, I will remove this system and let people have more internal control.

Q: What's different from the past RPs you hosted?
A: This will be the first time I am opening it to ALL factions of a lore timeline. This may be either a good thing or a bad thing but one thing I will try to avoid is splitting players into just one side only or the other so that more people are willing to participate.

Q: I've never roleplayed before or I don't know much about the Star Wars timeline, will this affect my ability to join or respond?
A: No it will not. While I am a heavy lore enforcer and attempt to make things as accurate as possible your personal knowledge will not be an issue. I will attempt to avoid using main stream characters if I can to expand on creative licensing so everyone is new to the field. While there will be alot of true to universe information, you won't be expected to know how it works in order to respond. Just think of it as cosmetic only.

Q: Is their a player limit or can I drop in and out?
A: There is no player limit and I am open to allowing players to join in and drop out so long as they are in open communication about doing so. I'm sure many of has have been dissapointed when people make commitments and then last minute/after the fact mention they no longer are interested. I don't want to close this option because I believe it allows the roleplay to grow more this way but this is subject to change if it becomes a problem.

Q: Are we allowed to have multiple players?
A: For the most part I am okay with a person having a maximum of two characters. Multiple characters can allow someone to experiment with multiple factions or skill trees to see how they act differently or expand their capacity to interact with the environment. Remember that doing this is your choice and you are expected to pull roughly double the weight because you have an extra character. You may choose to remove or add an additional character at any time if you feel like it but maintain open communications.

Q: How are you going to co-host with Uriel1339 and do this at the same time?
A: Details, details. We'll burn all those bridges when we get to them.
Questions or concerns that aren't addressed here? Drop a private message or response below and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Keep in mind that right now I am only available in the evenings and weekends so there may be some communications time lag depending on your region.

  2. Tech-Captain Drakka TechCaptain Arkhona Vanguard

Question can I be a force user that is neither sith or new order? I want to be equivalent of a grey jedi?
  3. I'm interested. I'll post more frequently closer to release.
  4. I'm still working on the Manifest slowly and once I post it, most of peoples questions will most likely be answered. Right now I only have an hour or two a day during the work week to actually put towards the Manifest.

In regards to force users. The way I have it planned out right now is that any and all races that can accept force sensitives, ie. essentially everything that isn't a droid will be available further in the plot line. Introduction phase and the first few early stages are basically character progression and development which will possibly later lead to one discovering their potential. The path YOU choose is your own from then on.

For instance say your character gets cut off theoretically from the entire group and is for instance lost in an ancient temple that just so happens to have been a Sith or Jedi remnant. A series of events could entail one becoming closer or even unlocking hidden potential. I'm not going to be adamant with how it progresses or develops but I don't want people just right off the bat being "OH LOOK I'M A FORCE SENSITIVE!"

I don't expect to really get this rolling until after the new year when most people have more time and I'm not busy with work or academy classes. The time frame is around the end section of Palpatines Empire, meaning the Emperor is dead, Lukes whereabouts are currently unknown. The Imperial Empire is currently on the brink of civil war with itself as several rouge factions fight for dominance but a relatively large section still wants to maintain the Empire. The Rebellion has taken this time to solidify its holdings and has begun somewhat of a witch hunt to root out Imperials in their controlled regions.

Players do not have to have an alignment and the first segment I will reveal to be a somewhat forced cooperation between players and the few NPCs who will be relevant to the plot line in the beginning. There might be something along the line of slipspace transwarp gone wrong due to a mysterious vessel and/or OMGWTFBBQ AMBUSH! in which multiple factions will be caught together. But you didn't hear that from me.

If you are interested in starting the character process before I make the formal template:
    • Characters Name: First and Last, you know the drill
    • Sex: Can be neutral if you decide to be a droid
    • Age: If you so choose
    • Race: I'm leaving this to free choice so anything that is considered canon in the SW universe DURING this time era is up for grabs. I do ask that you at least choose something that you can RP sucessfully and I will be looking up anything obscure to see if it's actually feasible. If you don't think it could work message me first and I will give the approval or not.
    • Short Personal Description: This should include something as to what your current goals are, if you are specifically aligned with any faction or a freelancer or even a civilian caught in the midst. You could be a politician, a soldier, essentially anything EXCLUDING an actual force sensitive as I mentioned before that will be for later in the plotline. Describe the characters physical descriptions, if you have augmentations such as cybernetic parts, scars, etc.
    • Alliance: If you so choose to place yourself with a side, you can choose a unit of your own making or one that is well known. I will have a Reputation system where depending on who you align with, certain quests and rewards may be greater or minuscule depending on who you contract with.
This is just the basics and you can change them at any time before the Roleplay actually begins. The purpose to help give me an idea of how players want to shape themselves to begin with so I know how to tailor the Manifest to best suit them.

TL;DR: Then why are you in the Roleplay section!? LOL
  5. High Adept Zeth High_Adept_Zeth Arkhona Vanguard

    Reputation system?Yey!Augmentations?YEY!
This Roleplay pleases the Machine God...
  6. Placed some hefty work into the Manifest. I'm currently rethinking how I want to do the in-RP class system to be more diverse so that area will probably be unfinished for another week.

    Update Notes:
    • 52 Force Powers Added - Relatively final in terms of the actual powers listed. Still working on detailing them fully. Here's a break down:
      • 15 "Dark"
      • 13 "Light"
      • 24 "Neutral"
    • 87 Ranged Weapons Added - Blaster Pistols Finished - Blaster Rifles WIP - Blaster Cannons WIP for Infantry
      • 19 Pistols
      • 15 Rifles (More being added, includes Sniper Rifles and Shotguns since they follow the same profile)
      • 12 Blaster Cannons (More being added)
    • 24 Melee Weapons Added - Massively unfinished
    • 75 Skills Added, the class lock is being reworked to fit the actual classes once I figure out how I want to handle them
    • 77 Feats Added - different from skills. These are direct modifiers to how you handle the skills you unlock and range from standard modifications to advanced training. More being added
    • 14 Factions Added - Massively unfinished. This section will include special modifiers to the amount of Credits and Experience earned as well as adding certain bonuses such as better loot rolls, morale debuffs against opponents, and attribute bonuses when using certain weaponry or vehicles
      • 2 "New Republic"
      • 12 "Mercenary"
To be added but already outlined:
    • Infantry Equipment
    • Vehicles (Ground)
    • Vehicles (Aerial) - includes star vessels
    • Vehicle Equipment
    • Vehicle Weaponry
    • Resistances and Player Attributes
    • Class Selection
    • Weapon Attacks - if anyone has played an MMO, most weapons have multiple different special abilities and I wanted to experiment with adding them in, this will be the only real non permanent section in the manifest
Suggestion Zone: This area is what I'm planning at this moment to work on but is open to change through your suggestions/the more time I think about it the more I want to change it because @#$% logic.
    • Right now I'm thinking of having the classes broken down into four, technically three, main categories as such:
      • Soldiers - Mercenaries, Professional Soldiers, Bounty Hunters, etc.
      • Specialists - Technicians, Engineers, Medicae, etc.
      • Voidfayers - Pilots/Drivers, Rouges, Scouts, Infiltrators, etc.
      • Force Sensitive - This will be the only locked category as almost every class will have the option to transition to this one.
    • Each Primary Class I'm expecting to create around 12 sub classes which each become highly specialized to a specific form of fighting/tactical awareness. For instance a Voidfayer has the capacity to become an infiltration specialist despite that also co-existing with the theme of a bounty hunter.
      • Each class and subclass is a GENERIC overview and as such you are free to decipher an in-universe equivalent ie: if you're a Professional Soldier you could be an Imperial Guardsman and not a Stormtrooper which would be the equivalent to a Commando.
  7. I have a question about the RP. You're setting it just after the Battle of Endor (Return of the Jedi). Which continuity will it be following: Legends or Disney? Or maybe neither?

Also plugging in the below for GM early approval.
Primary Character's Name: Orlando ("And" "Lan" "Or" "Or'and" "Ordo") Vhett

    Sex: Female

    Age: 19

    Race: Mandalorian (human)

Short Personal Description: Orlando wears a complete set of crimson-coloured Mandalorian armour, made of true beskar, with a jet-black helmet and bodyglove. Underneath her armour Orlando is pale-skinned, with dark hair in a pixie cut and sapphire-blue eyes.
This should include something as to what your current goals are, if you are specifically aligned with any faction or a freelancer or even a civilian caught in the midst. You could be a politician, a soldier, essentially anything EXCLUDING an actual force sensitive as I mentioned before that will be for later in the plotline. Describe the characters physical descriptions, if you have augmentations such as cybernetic parts, scars, etc.
Alliance: ? (Don't quite understand this one)
If you so choose to place yourself with a side, you can choose a unit of your own making or one that is well known. I will have a Reputation system where depending on who you align with, certain quests and rewards may be greater or minuscule depending on who you contract with.
    Secondary Character's Name: R6-Z8 "Urian"!
    TechCaptain and Uriel1339 like this.
  8. Uriel1339 Uriel1339 Lord of Posts

    Important question indeed.
    Avenging-Angel and TechCaptain like this.
  9. Auto-Messages didn't inform me any one had posted yesterday, my apologies. But first in a general note of warning, I will be delaying the launch of this RP since Uriel has thrown upon me the responsibility of commanding a Colony into the void. I plan to launch this RP around the second week of January instead of around New Years to split the focus of my attentions at this time.

Back to the question at hand: I am going roughly 70 years after the death of Emperor Palpatine, the Empire is in disarray in most cases and the Rebel Alliance has become much stronger making it an even playing field for both sides now. To make EVERYONE as happy as possible, I am combining both universes lore to a certain degree. In this case I am acknowledging the existence of the First Order and the New Republic. Both sides are currently in a relative temporary cease fire following heavy infighting amongst both sides in the power void left by the sudden de-centralization during the primary 40-50 years after the Battle of Endor.

However, I will not be going off a lot of cannon events so there will be some noticeable changes. What I am mostly staying true to lore is the equipment, weaponry, known force powers, vehicles, and planets not so much the battles after Endor or the primary political figures since the focus will be about the primary player group changing the entire universe with each region they end up in. To this point I will state that the players final actions during a mission will have extreme repercussions for the region you operate in. You will not be forced to maintain loyalty to any one faction as every character will more or less be on a mercenary-like formation. For instance when you return to the Endor region where remnants of the Death Star II, the gutted corpses of both fleets, and abandoned Imperial installations on the ground you can change the military and political control of that region depending on who you decide to help.

Every region you enter will have multiple "missions/contracts" that the group can decide what to take that will either bring stability or chaos for many factions bringing notoriety or fame to you and the group. I suggest that when it starts that you not immediately focus on what gives the greatest material rewards at first but what will have the most important latter repercussions down the line.

I don't want to spoil too much else. On a final note: next update will be released Christmas Day later in the evening around 2000 hours USEastern.
  10. Postponing next update to next weekend due to unforeseen work emergency.
